I have a correction... or two.
Dominic was apparently really named Benedict. Domenic was actually Benedict's oldest son. As for the "French" ancestry that may also be in question as Benedict states in both the 1870 and 1880 NYC census, that he is from Italy.

I'm looking, as is a known cousin of mine, for Marcellas who claim to be from France not Italy. My oldest known Marcella ancestor is Dominic Marcella born abt 1855 in France. There is another Marcella named Andrew whom I believe is Dominic's brother, he was born abt 1853. Both claim to be born in France and spoke French. Their children all have Anglo names like Peter, Elizabeth, Andrew, William, Felix and Joseph. There are no Guidos, Vitos, Marios or other obviously Italian first names except for Dominic. Dominic married Maria Colton abt 1875 in New York, she was born in England but all their children were raised in Boston. Known children were Elizabeth, Peter, Carl and Thomas.
If you know of any Marcellas in Boston, Charlestown, Everett or other towns just north of Boston but do not appear to have any Italian roots please let me know.

My mother was born in Johnson County, Iowa on May 27, 1915, named Mary Marcella, and put up for adoption, and was adopted by Lawrence and Grace DeGraff of Des Moines, Iowa. I am looking for her biological parents. Any suggestions?

Anyone out there? In search of family history. Sylvester Marcella is my grandfather. My grandmother is Victoria (maiden name Mastroberti) daughter of Rosario Mastroberti and Angeline (maiden Mastrangelo ). My grandfather came from Italy near Salerno 189? and my grandmother was born in New York.
My father is Anthony (Tony)Marcella, he had a brother Frank and three sisters. Louise,Nellie, Ann Marie (Daye). All are now deceased except Louise, who is around 80 something. Louise was adopted as a child and has no information for me.

I'm in search of any Marcella's out there.
My Father's name Anthony, Grandfather Sylvester, Grandmother Victoria. Uncle Frank. Grandfather born somewhere in Italy, came here, met Victoria in New York, could have lived in PA, but when he passed away was in Ohio. Came here from Italy to work with the railroad. Anthony (my dad) was married once befor he married my mother, I have a half sister out there somewhere.

Looking for descendents of Maria Marcella and Francisco Acivari (sp?) said to be from Cirigliano, Matera, Basilicata.

Their daughter Lucia came to this country about 1885 with a daughter called Angelina.
