Clave and Mary Lydia Marcelle from Avoyelles parish, Louisiana are my Grand Parents and if fact pretty much raised me. My mother, Olean of the Ortego's still lives in Cottonport. I now live in South Mississippi and can provide much information and am in search of more information on Beb and MaMa as I called them. Hi Sharon. My great aunt was Mary Lydia Dixon who was married to Clave Marcelle. They were from the Avoyelles Parish, Cottonport, LA area. I've been trying to find information on Mary's father, Riley Dixon (his parents and so forth) but haven't had much luck. Clave's parents were Fannie Stocks and William Marcelle. That's all I know about them. I don't even remember if I ever met Mary and Clave when I was a small child. Idon't know if Clave is any relation to your Marcelles or not but I thought I'd let you know about them.

I am looking for any inrfor mation on a Almas J. Marcelle. He was supposedly from Houma, La. His Mama was a Boudreaux. He was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia at one time. He also lived in Phenix City, Alabama, and Columbus, Georgia. He owned a bar at one time in Columbus, called Frog's Place. He married a Willie Mae "Billie" Dunn, from Phenix City. They married in 1940. They later divorced and, he died years later in California. Would love any information about his family or his beginnings?

Hi! We very well could be related. It is my understanding that the Marcelle family is very large. My grandmother, daughter of Norbert Marcelle says that she has 17 sisters and brothers. Please list additional family members maybe there's a connection.

Steven Smith - son of Margaret Marcelle and Andrew Smith

Steven Smith was my grandfather. He died when my mother was 6 years old. My mother does not know anything more since her mother, Steven's widow, refused to speak about her late husband. Steven Smith was born in Windber, PA. His father, Andrew Smith was a coal miner (Eureka mine in Windber). We think Andrew was a Polish immigrant that changed his name to Smith when he arrived.

Steven Smith was a draftsman for RCA after he got out of the Army. We think the family moved to Ohio at some time. At the age of 17, Steven Smith enlisted in the Army from Marion, Ohio, and served in WWI.

All I know.

I am sorry, I do not. I gleened this information from my grandparents marriage certificate where Steven Smith listed his parent's as Andrew Smith and Margaret Marcelle. They were from western Pennsylvania. Does that sound familar?
