my mother was alice clare marcellus of standale, michigan. She was one of 8 children. Her father was Lewis marcellus and mother, catherine edgett. Her great grandfather was a great lakes fisherman by trade. There is a book published by Adams Press in 1972 entitled, "a Search for Polly", compiled by Harry L. Marsalis. Very explicit about the three factions of the family that went south, north and the third that stayed in central United States. I recommend it to all members of the family. Please write.
