Hey Jeff - guess what? We are actually first cousins! My dad was George Guibault. My parents divorced when I was two and I didn't even meet George until I was in my late 20's. For some reason unknown to me I gathered that our dad's did not speak to each other. What really makes me sad is that when I was doing research I learned of your dad's passing and I actually live less than a mile from where he was living. Then to make the world smaller, I was chatting with a woman at a baseball game and she (Caroline) used to live next door to the house your dad was living in. At George's funeral, I gave Barb Johnson a copy of the Guibault research that I had going all the way back to France. I actually think you and I are close in age. I was born in 1958. Send me your email address and I will give you access to my ancestry.com information. (unless you are already a member and then you should be able to find it - listed under Mark Hanson Family Tree)

I also have some information on Grandma Guibault's side of the family, but would love to go back further if you have any info.

What fun!
Hy; I have been gahering information on the Marchand family for quite some time. On your message of the 25 janvier 2001, you mentionned that you were looking for the ancestors of Jean Marchand in France. Did you get any succes since? Could you tell me more about yourself ? Where do you live ? Are you still working in genealogy ?

Réjean Lebel
305 des Cormorans
St-Nicolas, P.Québec
G7A 3A2
418-831-6698

Am I too late to join the conversation? I also am looking for descendents of Augustin Leandre Huerd (his name at baptism according to records). My line goes as follows:
Augustin and Isabell
Georgianna married Oliver Carpenter and had several children including Florence Carpenter. Florence got pregnant out of wed lock and was sent to a girls home. After she gave birth, she went home with her parents but died in 1926 of consumption. The baby was 2 and was adopted by her grand parents. The baby's name was Laverne Carpenter. She married Delbert Fish. She died in 1987 of pancreatic cancer and he died in 2007 of lung cancer. They are both buried in Warroad. I would love to swap information with any and all of you. You can click on my screen name and it should let you email me.

I will check out Pictin Press. Thanks. My line of Marchands is from Juan Bautista, son of Vincent; Ovide, son of Juan Bautista; Jean Baptiste, son of Ovide; Lyman, son of Jean Baptiste; and Margie (my deceased mother), son of Lyman. I referred you to Chris Marchand's info. His grandfather and mine were brothers, so my information is more or less the same as his. The only info I have on where Vincent originated from is the reference in his marriage contract to his being a "native of Vig in Catalonia". I live in Louisiana and most of my sources are the records of the Catholic Dioceses of New Orleans and Baton Rouge. What Marchand line are you researching.

Chris Marchant's website is very nice and shows so much work. So what do you know about your Marchand FAmily? They are French speaking and could be from the French section of Bern Canton or others, Switzerland or maybe even France. Do you have any locations in Europe nailed down that are possiblities? Do you know the country?

It appears that you have really isolated some of the primary facts in your Marchand family in the 1700's. Pictin Press has a fairly complete listing of church records for Bern Canton by Rohrbach. Are you using those church records? They are very good.

Hi Patsy,

I just found your query about Catherine Marchand wife of Jean Aubuchon. She is my 8th great-grandmother also. My line goes Jean, Jacques, Joseph, Francois, Jean-Baptiste, Francois, Louis, Pierre, Joseph, Cedric and me, Joyce. When Louis immigrated to Mass. a T was added to the last name. To my knowledge, we are the only branch that is spelled Aubuchont. So, when I see that, I am sure that person and I are related. I checked my family tree and found Joseph and his wife, Mrie-Antoinette Dehornais-Laneuville and their 8 children. I also found that I did not have anything other than the birth dates for Marie-Genevieve, Louis-Marie, Jean-Baptiste b:1774 and Jean-Baptiste b:1777. I would be interested in any information you cane give me and would be happy to share what I have with you.

Joyce Aubuchont Ahern

Marchand, Billett families in early Arkansas

I am looking for Louise Marchand. She was a member of the community of the French Monarchy's Post of Arkansas in 1744. She was married to Pierre Anselme Billett. They had a son, Anselme who died at age 94 at Arkansas Post. I'm hoping he had a daughter, Magdeleine, who married Charles Refeld at Arkansas Post in 1794. Any information on either of these families would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for information on Albert Marchand b 1872. He is buried in St. Patricks cemetery in Northbridge, Ma. Albert was married to Mary Louise Lavallee. What I can't seem to find is information on his parents. All I have it their names, Joseph was his father and Flavie or Florie Se Denis is his mother. On Albert's marriage license his mother is listed as Flavie St. Denie. My father who is Albert's grandson said her name was Florie St. Denie. Anyone with information?

I have a great grandfather Named Jean Baptiste Marchand born 1835 in either Nova Scotia or St Pies Quebec. He as orphaned at an early age (around 5) He was sent to his grandfather Jodoin. So I assume that maybe his mother was named Jodoin? So I do not know if there is any connection to Charles Marchand and Antoinette Jodoin. But this is the first connection I've had between the two names.

I have been doing a great deal of research in Switzerland with the VILLARD family. I have noticed the presence of the MARCHAND surname in the French speaking area of Bern Canton. I have also noticed that my VILLARD family has married MARCHAND individuals. I have seen MARCHANDS in Frinvillier, Vauffelin, Bern, Switzerland and also Orvin, Bern, Switzerland. Orvin is a little north of Frinvillier and a larger community. Both towns are in the same valley.
