Marchetti, D'Andrea Families in PA & NY

I am researching Vincenzo & Giuseppina Marchetti who emigrated to the U.S. between 1902 and 1907, coming from L'Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy. Upon arrival at Ellis Island, the passenger list indicates they planned to stay with his sister and brother-in-law, Jenny and G. D'Andrea who lived on 109th Street East (no area of city was mentioned). This family had 9 children, but only 4 lived to adulthood. At some point, they moved to Pittsburgh, PA area. Vincenzo was a mason/bricklayer. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Marchetto to Marchetti surname change

One of our family names has always been spelled Marchetti in the US, but in searching in Italian church records I found a great grandmother's birth listed as Marchetto rather than Marchetti. Does anyone have any knowledge if this 'o' to 'i' was a common change? They came from Arzignano, Vicenza area of northern Italy. Thanks so much for any insights.

Greetings All:

My sister recently bought a condo in North Providence, Rhode Island that belonged to the now deceased, "Connie" and Bill PAOLISSI. The place came with the couple's family photos and memorabilia - which no relative claimed.

My sister does not wish to toss these items out and asked me to help find someone who may want these photos and memorabilia. - William Paolissi seems to have been a musician and may have worked with Frank Sinatra and other well-known entertainers. Little is known about his wife, Concetta (Marchetti) Paolissi.

If anyone recognizes this couple, or has an interest, please contact me ASAP. Also, if you have suggestions as to where else to post, - or to whom to donate this memorabilia, please, pass it along. - Many thanks!

Frank Marchetti-from Italy to MS

Iam not related to the Marchettis but to the Lemonas (Lemon in USA), Massinas (Massa in USA)and Ghettis. However I do have some info on the above Marchetti: Angelo N. Lemona b abt 1844 in Faenza (could be Maenza?) Italy came to the USA on a 60 foot sailing vessel, owned by Frank and Lazarus Piazza, 3 others on the boat were John Massina, Frank Marchetti, and Vincenzio Ghetti. Lemona left Italy to avoid the draft, I do not know why the others came. They landed in New Orleans then migrated to Copiah Co., MS. They opened up Tannerys, hotels and introduced the Italian tomato to the USA. My ancestors (above listed) remained in MS. I do not know if the Marchettis or Piazzas remained in MS or migrated elsewhere. Just thought this tidbit might be of some interest to one that might be related to Frank Marchetti. If this rings a bell to anyone, please email lyndarm@mai.com, and if anyone has anything further to add, I would love to hear. Many thanks!!
