Hi Cindy
My name is Judy Shepard, Vinca Karaba Kryzak was my grandmother. Vinca and John or Jan were sister and brother. Vendal, Mary, Emilia were other brother and sisters. In one of your other postings you mentioned an Aunt Amelia. Is that on your Grandfather or Grandmother's side? Please let me know if you have a written history of your grandfather's family. I would love additional information on any of the the brothers or sisters and of Martin and Apolonia.

Marczin

I'm looking for any information about the Marczin family who lived at 429 6th street in Donora, Pa. They where there in 1915. They were first cousins of my father and came here with his grandfathers brother Alexander Almasi. They might have spelled the name Almasy. I have heard they ran a bakery store and also sold Hungarian Sausage. I have found a Alexander Marczin who last lived in McKeesport and died in 2003. I think he was a son and might have been the end of the family if they don't have kids. I also see that there was a Vilma Almasi with them. I believe her to be a daughter of the Almasi family too.She was a year older than Alexander was so she is probably dead as well. Any info or tips would be appreciated. They were from Abara, Zemplen County, Hungary in 1915.

Just noticed your post. My great uncle, Charles Kushner (Kusnir) was married to Julia Marcini in Manhattan in 1895. Her parents were Nathan Marcini and Maria Miklosko. She was born in Austria Hungary (based on info in marriage certificate). I also located a NYC marriage record for a John Marcini, married Elizabeth Mozgo in July 1899. They were both listed as living in Raritan NJ. As best as I can determine, they had at least 2 children, Joseph and Peter.
Could they be your family?

Seek full name of Louise Lynn Soutter's husband, date and place of their marriage, and place of her death. Her obituary appeared in The Washington Post and listed her death date as 9 August 1961 and her name as Louise Lynn Soutter, but her tombstone, in Dumfries Cemetery, Prince William Co., VA, lists her name as Louise Lynn Marcen. No other Marcens appear to be buried in this cemetery.

Pam and Kathy:
My Grandfather came from Slivnak in Slovakia. He had 3 brothers, Joseph, John and Frank, 2 sisters Sophie and Veronica. All except Veronica came to the US in the early 1900's and settled in Wyoming Valley, PA. We sort of lost track of the sister who remained in Slovakia, I do remember my dad saying that there was some correpondence with her for awhile. I do not know if there were other Marcin's in that village as they did not like to speak of the "Old Country" I do not know how common a name Marcin is. Please keep in touch as I have been in contact with an Aunt who knows more of the family history than I do

I think we may be related, by marriage. My husband, Tom Martin's family is from Pittsburgh. His father, Albert, had 4 brothers and 2 sisters, named John, Steven, William, George and Helen and Mary. His father's birth certificated lists Alberts last name as Marcin. The mother's name was Barbara and she was born in Austria-Hungary. We don't know the father's name for sure, but it may have been John and was called Pap and was from Slovakia. We have wondered about the family name and the change to Martin and your post is awfully close in terms of family names.

Marcin Surname

My grandfather came from a small village, in English Little Plumtree, in what is now known as the Slovak Republic but at the time was Slovakia. Members of his family settled in Northeastern PA near Wilkes-Barre. From what I have been told, there are still relatives in The Slovak Republic. My Grandfather was Stephen, he had a brother Frank and a sister
Sophie, all who came to the US to PA. I think that there must have been another brother because I have a large number of cousins who live in PA, The brother may have been Joseph or John. They came to the US by way of Hambourg Germany in the early 1900.

Dear Shirley, My name is Cate, my cousins may remember me as Cathey. My father was their uncle Walter. I think the last time I saw them, I was 12 or 13 , at my grandmother's house in Worcester! Their mother's name was Marian. I am 44 ,now and live in California. I have been trying to put my family history toether, about a month now, and tried this site out for the first time today. I know a little about Tori from when she would write my grandmother, as a child. My mother, Ethel, has a few memories too. Before my dad died, he made several trips to California, and went to see uncle Ed in Chino.
