Merci beaucoup!

I am looking for the children of George Marcotte (b:1798, son of Joseph Pierre Marcotte and Josephte Richard) and Catherine Angé. All I have been able to find so far is one daughter, Marie Anne Marcotte, born 1827. I am also trying to find out what happened to Marie Elisabeth Marcotte, born April 23, 1796, parents Joseph Pierre Marcotte and Josephte Richard. I can't find if she married or died or what became of her. I am related through Marie Angelique Marcotte (also daughter of Joseph Pierre and Josephte Richard). She is my great-great-great-grandmother. Thank you very much!

Hi Daniel,

I have been in touch with you before that email is long gone. I am looking for parents of Joseph Marcotte and Marie-Claire LeBlanc. Their daughter Hortense married Noe/Noah Desjardins on 8 Jan 1866 at St. Augustin, Mirabel, Quebec, Canada. I have no dates for Joseph and Marie Claire but Hortense was born on 13 May 1836 St.Scholastique, Quebec, Canada and died 1881 in St. Monique, Quebec, Canada. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Bonnie St.Onge

Hi Daniel, took a year break from my hunt for Marcottes. The ones in my past that is.

still hoping o find a connection to my gr.grandfather Georges Ludger Marcotte and his parents...he is beleived by some to be son of Catherine Houle. she may have been N.Am. or metis and used surname of family she lived with.

Ludger came to the upper peninsula of MI in mid 1800's from Canada. I believe Quebec. Married an Eliza Roy in Houghton MI. Cannot find any trace of her but less than five yrs. later he married Leocadie Dulong. Leocadies parents moved between Canada and NY state and she was born in NY state. They as well as Ludger and Leocadie settled in the Houghton MI area until their deaths.

Any clues appreciated...Joan

Thank you for the help.
Was able to find birth/death of Amelia, Irena, Valeda and Romeo. Found birth of Rudolphe 17 July 1890. He was the son of the first wife, not the second. So that narrows Marie-Agnes Doucet's death to some time between July 1890-Apr 1892.
Found birth and marriage for Edouard, and marriage for Ulderic.

My g-mother was Exilda Marcott(e) b. 1897, Willsboro, Essex Co. NY; her father was Samuel Marcott(e) b. 1871, also Willsboro m. Susan Mero 1896, his death 1952. Samuel and Susan had at least 11 children. Samuel's father was John B. Marcott(e), and this is where it gets confusing. Lots of conflicting data non of which I can substantiate.
Re: Elisabeth Marcotte--Xavier Nadon

Elizabeth Marcotte was the daughter of Narcisse Marcotte, born about 1817 and Julie Perrier, born about 1825.
Narcisse was the son of Jean Baptiste Marcotte and Julie Faucher. Julie Perrier was the daughter of Geoffrey Perrier and Julie Saguin. I come in through the Seguin Family Line. Elizabeth was one of at least 10 children. I have been working on this family this past week. I will update my information tonight and you can view it in a day or two.

I have a couple questions for you. Your grandmother and her siblings, were they all born in the Sault Ste. Marie, Algoma County area? I only found Zelia and Emerentienne's birth's listed in the Ontario birth records. Also in the 1901 Census they list an Alcidas, born in 1875 and an Oscar born in 1889. I'm assuming that one was Joseph and the other Joseph Xavier? There is also no Amanda or Emma listed in either the 1881 or 1901 censuses. When were they born?
You can email me directly at rdpmek at aol.com

Hope this helps and hope that you can help me too.
Rick Peters

Devik,

I believe I mis-stated the status of the Marcotte Dictionary being in the public domain. When I said that, I had it in my head that the publication date was 1973, instead of 1983. The rules for copyrights and public domain changed in 1977, and now it takes 70 years after the death of the author before the copyright expires and the book passes into the public domain. Since, however, it is out of print and the author is deceased, no reprint is being considered by the publisher and no new royalties are therefore possible to his heirs, I think I will what the publisher (Edition de l’Echo) says about releasing it into the public domain.

Michael
According to Father Jean Marcotte's Genealogical Dictionary of the Marcotte Families (published posthumously in 1983,but now out of print), Ignace was born in 1790, apparently in Nicolet, and married Genevieve Descoteaux dit Lefebvre on 25 January 1873 at St-Michel in Yamaska. No death date is provided for Ignace. His parents are listed as Joseph Marcotte and Elisabeth Daniau. I do not yet have any of Ignace & Genevieve's children listed (except for Gregoire), but you can find Ignace on my charts at:
http://www.electroauthor.com/marcotte_genealogy/jos_daniau.h...

best regards,

Michael Marcotte
Derek,

There are no longer any copies of the book avilable for the publisher, although one of the members of the Association of Marcotte Families in Queebc Province is trying to get an updated version republished, one sveral corrcetions have been incorporated. I am also attempting to add every name from that book to the charts presented on my web site. Father Jean Marcotte (a priest of the Capuchin order) worked a) from contributed family data provided during the 1967 tri-centennial and b) from parish records to compile the book. He worked with Jean Lemaitre, an archivist in Fecamp, Normandy, to provide historical background.

The book is referenced on my website at:
http://www.electroauthor.com/marcotte_genealogy/mbook.htm

By following various links at my site, you will be able to locate a considerable amount of material that was in the book (now public domain), and much more that was not in the book.

best regards,

Michael

Jim,
Just checking again on my Marcotte lines. I do have the Marcotte dictionary. Also I can give you what I have from My grandfather Arthur down, which is not much. Basically I have his children, one of whom is my mother. I have been unable to find any of His siblings or their children. I have Arthurs Marriage certificate to my grandmother and his last record of employment and my mothers birth certificate. I am willing to do any lookups I can in the Marcotte book for you. I had purchased an extra one about 7 years ago and sent it to a woman I met on ancestry but I understand it is a hard book to obtain. Let me know if I can be of any help.
Debra

I wish I had more to tell you. I know almost nothing about her.
Elisabeth's husband Xavier Nadon was born 10 June 1845 in Alfred Ontario, so one might assume Elisabeth was probably born between 1840 and 1850.
I don't know if she was born in Quebec or Ontario?
They married in Mattawa Ont. before 1873.
The eldest child Joseph Xavier Nadon was born 12 June 1873 in Mattawa.
Xavier owned a grocery store in Mattawa and later in Sault Ste. Marie.
I really wish I had more to help you help me but that is all I have.
Thank You for trying I really appreciate your efforts
Greg Pilon

Marie-anne (a french name) was the fourth one being born on september 21, 1817 in St-jean-baptiste-de-nicolet, nicolet, Quebec, Canada.

I have no info. about a second marriage. if she remarried it was after 1832, year of the birth of their last child, Hermine.

I'm not a descendant of Ignace but i collect all information on the marcotte family.

Daniel Marcotte

I have found their marriage record in Yamaska and Ignace's baptism in Nicolet via the Drouin, but haven't had much luck in those parishes for his death or her birth/death.
Marie Agnes Doucet, daughter of Hubert Doucet and Mathilde Guillemette of Becancour, Quebec married Charles Marcotte on 08 May 1898, at St. Roch in the city of Quebec. According to the marriage record, Charles was a writer, the son of Charles Marcotte and Rose Marticotte. (I have a copy of the record.)
(1) Did they have any children?
(2) Does anyone know of anything written by Charles? Or what kind of writing he did? Could not find anything in the Dictionary of Canadian Biography.
(3) Need a date of death for Marie-Agnes, but certainly before April of 1892 when he re-married. My guess is she may have died in childbirth.
Any help appreciated

I think that the mariage date of 1844 is wrong.

Yes,,, looking over my information I see that I was wrong, on one page of information I had the before 1844 and then corrected on another page.. Sorry for the misinformation.

Do you have the date of March 2 1823 for Ignace and Genevieve Descoteaux Marcot? And that Genevieve had a second husband named Rock Pinard?
I have a marriage date and partners name for five of their children, including the correct date for my "Marie Ann" who married Jean-Baptiste Houle.
On this site they actually have another Ignace Marcotte married to a Genevieve Descoteaux,, On January 25, 1813, at Saint Michel-D'yamaska/ Le-Bas-Richelieu
They do not have the same children..??

Hope this corrects my error,, unintentional
Are you decended from this family also??

Susan, I ran across your information on the Paquette family while beginning research on my ancestry. My Great Grandfather was Octave (Octavius) Paquette who was born in Canada between 1843 and 1846 and immigrated to Kankakee, Il. where he married Louise Marie Girard in 1874. He died in 1900. My search lead me to Godfrois (Godfrey or Gunford) Paquette and his wife, Marie Aurora Dumas, thus your message. I have some further info, but wondered if in your search you discovered any Native American ancestry in this line? We have been told that Octave's children were part indian, but that was all kept hush hush in those days. Based on what I've found, I doubt it is on the Paquette side, but wondered if you had anymore info?

thanks.
