Hi Rosemary,
I don't think my Uncle James Guy Marcrum is your grandfather.
He married my Aunt in 1945 and I she was at least his
second wife. They were both past 55 at the time.
I don't think he ever had any children. He can be found on the 1910 census living in New York City with his relatives, at age 19, and later census shows him in NJ with wife I think her name was Maude.
Physically, he was slender maybe 5'9" with a full head of pure white straight hair. He was past 60 at that time. He was born in Columbus GA in 1881, and died in Huntsville AL
1954. My aunt was with him then and listed his parents as James Marcrum and Clara Turner.
Sorry, don't think he's your man, but good luck.\
Mari

I believe this is my grandfather! Does he have sons named David D., Elmer, Louis and Bill Marcrum? Also does he have two daughters named Rose and Mary Marcrum? I was named after the two girls. My father was born in 1914 and died in 1974. We lived in Sandoval, Illinois for some years. I remembering my father telling me his dad was an engineer at one time. I have very old pictures of my grandparents. My grandmother was Cherokee Indian, with long black hair and mean. My grandfather had a large mustache and curly hair. He was a some what large man too.

James E. Marcum born 1852 Laurel Co., KY

I am trying to find information on James E. Marcum, born 15 Jan. 1852 Laurel Co., KY. He was a brother to my Great-grandpa Bishop Asbury Marcum. Their parents were Jesse Marcum and Sarah W. Ely. Other than his birth date, I can find nothing further on him.

There is a James E. Marcum listed in the 1880 census as living in Blackfoot City, Deer Lodge County, MT but since I can't retrieve the info, have no idea if this is the same man.

If you have any info on James, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks.
Hi Debbie, My mother, Ida Belle Marcrum did die of a stroke in April of 1952, she was 42. I was 3 and we moved away and I really don't remember anything about her family, except the names of her brothers Tommy, Alvin, Eugene and your dad David; and her sister "Aunt Ivy". I know her father was Joseph Green Marcrum and her mother, Arella Jane Stephens Marcrum. I know he died in the 1940's before I was born and Arella Jane moved to California and died there in 1966. Do you have any additional information on any of them. Do you have pictures? I would love to see them. I have an old picture of daddy and my mother taken before I was born if you would like a copy. I have one sister, Betty Jo who was born in March, 1940. We had another sister born in February, 1944 (Sandra Kay) who died at 6 months. I was born in October 1948. Well, I've made contact with a cousin! this is great, hope to hear back from you.
Terri:

Just saw your post from 2004. I hope you get this message. I am the granddaugher of Joseph Green Marcrum, his daugher, Ida Belle, was my mother. She died in 1952 when I was 3 and I had no further contact with that side of the family. You mentioned that you had a photo of Squire W. "Ky" and Eliza Jane Bennett Marcrum. They would be my great grandparents. It would mean so much to me to see a photo of them (I've never even seen a photo of my grandparents). Please email me at joyarnall@aol.com. I would be happy to pay for any cost associated with receiving a copy of photo.

Thank you,
Joy Arnall

My name is Rose Mary Marcrum and I'm originally from Sandoval, Illinois. I was born on January 22, 1964 in Centralia, ILL. at St. Mary's Hospital. My dad David D. Marcrum named me after his two sisters, who are Rose and Mary Marcrum. I have been searching for a long time to find them and have never run across a clue as yet. My dad had two brothers that I know of Bill and Andy (Elmer). They have been deceased for years now. I believe there was one more brother but I don't know his name. My father past away in 1974 at the age of 60. From what I understand, the Marcrum's are originally from Tennessee and had moved into Illinois in the early 1900's. If anyone has some information on the two sisters, I would greatly appreciate it. I now reside in Jacksonville, Florida.

Terri, I just found your reply post, I'm so sorry I missed it, but wasn't notified. I haven't found much on the Marcrum family, Squire "Ky" and wife, Eliza Jane Bennett are in Searcy Co. Ark. in 1880 with five children, Nancy R, Thomas W., Margaret C., Martha E., and Joseph G., I have three children born after 1880 Violet Ann, William Monroe, and Minerva Belle. I am from the Williams line of Jesse/Letitia Clayborn/Claiborne of Van Buren Co.., Jesse Williams was a brother to Nancy Williams who married George Washington Bennett in Dekalb Co. Tn., they came via St. Francois Co. Mo. to Ark. in late 1850's. I have most of the spouse's of Squire "Ky" children, but none of their children, George W. and Nancy Williams Bennett's, son Wm. Pitts Bennett m Mary Elizabeth Sanders, and her brother James Crawford Sanders m Elizabeth Caroline Marcrum, sister to Squire "Ky". what is your Macy Monroe Williams line? I have a lot of Williams in Van Buren/Cleburne/Faulkner Co.

Terri, I've saw Macy's name, but haven't connected him to my Williams yet. I know Jesse Williams and sister, Nancy Williams Bennett 's parents were David Williams and Elizabeth VanHooser, both born in Va., David died by 1840,in Tn., so can't seem to find any info on who his folks were., they were in Smith, Warren, Wilson and Dekalb Co. Tn. Jesse had 9 children, all married in Van Buren Co., so I have about 150 yrs, of relatives there, plus my Chance, Loftis, and Clifton lines from 1850, am kin to most of Van Buren, Cleburne and Falukner counties, so no doubt we have some connecting line there. Will keep a eye out for any info on your line, and post if I find anything. thanks for repling--Evelyn

Terri, I'd appreciate any pictures, info ect, on them, and the Delbert name will help us maybe find the right Williams line. I have quite a bit on some of the Bennett line, and a lot on Jesse Williams line, but not all Jesse's grand-children and gr. grandchildren-will keep looking for a connection, thanks for thinking of me--Evelyn

Evelyn, was just going thru the boards and saw your reply. I would appreciate anything you come across. Just after I posted that reply I went to a Poe family reunion and one of my cousins had some old pictures. One was of Macy and Delbert Williams, this is the first time I've come across Delbert, I don't know if he's a brother or cousin. The other photo is marked as Squire "Ky" Marcrum and Eliza Bennett. If you would like a copy and I can figure out how to email I'd be happy to send you one.

Hi Evelyn, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately Macy Monroe Williams, like Squire Marcrum, is a brick wall in my research. One of my cousins recently wrote me she found evidence that his father's name was Josiah Williams and his grandfather's name was Alexander Williams, but I haven't heard back from her to find out where she found this information. If you have anything on either of them I would appreciate it. Thanks for the help.

Hi. I was wondering if you have any further information on Thomas Marcrum's line. I have his parents as Squire Marcrum and Nancy Hall, but that is as far as I can find. I am descended from Thomas and Leanna's daughter Violet who married Macy Monroe Williams. Anything you might have to help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Terri

In Texas Henry James Marcrum married Jennie Nora Deloach (born 1896). Henry's father was Ed Marcrum from Kentucky. Henry and Jennie had 4 daughters and one son. They lived in San Marcos, Hays County, TX.
I have just begun researching my husband's family and this is all the information I have been given. Does this match anyone's research?
