Hi Nick,

It would be so interesting to find out about the family, Ive tried so many avenues and have not been successful at all. You are the only person who has replied. My husbands grandfather Edouard [Edward]Jules Margot was born about 1880 st croix and in 1901 went to London where he was a Chef for about +- 5yrs, he then left England from Southampton on board the Langdale and arrived in Cape Town South Africa on 14th September 1905. He made his way to Johannesburg where he married Sarah Ethel Brown they had 4 children Elise, Edward, Charles and Rene. [Rene was my father in law]Unfortunately Edward died on Guy Fawkes day [5th November]1926. I hope this information is helpful. Apparently he had 3 brothers and that's all we know. Maybe you have other information that could be helpful to us.

Reagrds
Marlene Margot

Hi, I am related to the st croix Margot family. I'm afraid I don't know much more, however my father has all of the information documented somewhere. My grandfather researched our family links but he passed away earlier in the year. He left all the documents to my father. One thing I do know is that we went as far back as St Croix however a fire distroyed most of the information I think in the 18/19 century.

My husbands grandfather was Edward Jules Margot,[the original spelling of his name could've been "Edouard". We know that he was born in Switzerland about 1880, we don't have any certificates, we are not sure of the area, but it could've been the St. Croix area. He had 3/4 brothers, haven't heard of any sisters. We believe he went to London in about 1901 and worked as a chef there until coming to South Africa in about 1905. He married[don't know the year]Ethel Sarah Brown, they had four children. Edward died in 1926, no-one has ever had any contact with the family in Switzerland, and all information that we have so far is rather sketchy. As we are doing a family tree we would love to have any information that is available.

hi debra,

The only info. i have (yet!) is that Beatrice S. Pennock was born 15 Mar 1921 in Iowa and she died in Los Angeles, California in 1974. her parents were Raymond Ira Pennock and Lola Pearl Stringham. She was married to Frank Margot (wich spelling might be Marcotte?? not sure yet). his parents were C. Margot and Mary Courtney. C. Margot died in Los Angeles, California and Mary Courtney died in Los Angeles, California.

I can retreived the Pennock line back to Samuel around 1650 but i dont have anything else on the Margot (Marcotte ?) line.

Don't you have any info. about some uncle (name) or small talk about a place of origin?

Since i'm from Quebec, Canada, i don't have a lot of acces to information from the State but if your Frank immigrated from my side of the frontier (like a lot of people from that time), i would just need a little bit of information to continue my research...

Hope to heard from you soon...

Daniel Marcotte
Hi Debra, I'm afraid the only Frank Margot/Margo I know of is a Frank Margo without the T. I'm not sure which branch he belongs to, but he was born March 9th, 1878 in Frenchtown, NJ. He died in May of 1975. I don't know where.

There are Franciose's and Francis from a 100 or more years ago, but no more Frank's that I'm aware of, sorry.

Regards,
