Markey Lineage - Ireland to Scotland to US (via Canada)

I have been unable to find ANY connection to US Markeys as my grandfather's (Andrew J. Markey/1862-1949) only brother, Bernard, died as a child (I think) and all his sisters stayed in Scotland. I THINK his father, John Markey/Markay, emigrated from Co. Cavan to Fife, Scotland during the Potato famine to work at Forth Iron Works at Carnock, near Dumfernline. His mother, Mary Crorkan/Crorkane, may have been married before, but also came from Ireland -- Co. Monaghan (Tulleycorbet). Does ANYONE out there have a Markey connection leading me back to Ireland? (Names in the family are Andrew, Patrick, John, Brendan, Anne, Elizabeth, Mary, Alice and Bridget.)
Andrew first shows up in North America in Nanaimo, Vancouver, about 1888; he wrote a poem about a mine explosion there, and about helping bring out the dead miners. No one knew he'd been there, or where he arrived in North America, about 1882.
Thanks - I'd sure love to find a connection, as I'm about to go to Ireland and Scotland in September!
