Marko and Backo

My great grandfather was Valentin Marko, married Sophia Bresinsky. After Marko death Sophia married a John Backo. Does anyone have any information, please let me know. thanks.

Update: Upon further discusions with my father I have learned that his Grandfather(Marko) came from Croatia to Lenti,Hungary.I have also learned that my garndmother Szidonio Ference passed away in 2007.One of my father's cousins was taking care of her and got the house when she passed.I think his name was joe.I am also told she had about 6 or seven siblings.I do know of a cousin that was supposedly a journalist but living in Germany,but I don't know which side that's from.Any clue's or info would be appreciated.

Hi I grew up in Hamerlik Manitoba my father was Nicholas Marko, his parents were John Marko from Austria, and Katherine (Balua)Marko from austria as well.

if you have any further information, my grandma Katherin (balua) sister was Ann Fedowich they too lived in Hamerlik manitoba

Harvey L. Rushfeldt (b. 17 Jan 1902, Hawley, MN; d. 3 May 1968, Torrence, CA) married Rose Margaret Marko (b. 25 Sep 1904; d. 3 Aug 1988 in Torrence, CA). They were married June 1928. This Harvey L. Rushfeldt's father was named Hans Ludvig Rushfeldt. Hope this helps! (I'm sorry, but I don't have any information on the Marko family; only the Rushfeldt family.)

My father Zoltan Janos Marko Ference was born in Lenti in 1937, Hungary.His father's name was Ferenc Marko born in 1911 and dies sometime in 1974 and his mother,(whom is still alive)name is Peczeli Szidonio Ference.My grandmother knows of me but that's about it.Any information would be greatly apprecicated.

Hi,
Szapiel is not a common name in Poland. My friend and her family is also Russian Orthodox.
Her name is Tatiana Szapiel and her e-mail address is: taniusza4@wp.pl It might take her a while to respond, but she will. She speaks english ok, so you shouldn't have a problem communicating - if you do - pls refer to me and I'll help.

I just read your message for the first time, although you posted it a year ago! I posted my interest in the names Marko and Szapiel 5 years ago. I had one initial response and then nothing else. Since we moved I've had no time to carry out further research until recently. I was surprised to see your message.

I know very little about my father. What I have is from his war record. He was born in 1926 in Holynka, Slonim, Nowogrodek, Poland according to this. His father was Michal Marko and his mother was Teodora (nee Szapiel). Interestingly his religion was Russian Orthodox. Would your friend know if Szapiel is a common surname, or could there possibly be a link with her family?

I hope you are still looking at your messages, or it might be another year before I get a response! Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.

I don't have any info on Marko, but my good friend's last name is Szapiel. She still lives in Poland. We grew up in a city called Bialystok. I do believe that her family back in the past came from somwhere in Russia....but I'm not 100% sure. They do have a big family in Bialystok though.

Mary Elizabeth (Marie) Marko married my uncle Frank Lethert in northfield, MN on 29may 1917. She had a Girl child born 26 Feb 1919 named Lucille Mary. The child was early and born breech. The child died 15 May 1919 and Mary Elizabeth died22 Jan 1920. I believed she is buried in Calvary Cemetary in St Paul, MN. I can probably find more Marko info if you need.

, My dad's dad is John Bert Marko , and he had brothers name joseph and stephn marko , they were from czech. and i know joseph had a son named frank and he has a daughter named jean, john was married to veronica maco they have kids mary, joann, elsie, helen, robert which is my dad, stanley. josep was married to a agnes nestek , then married maria gazovic, joseph's daughter aganes married william fredrick erdmann and they had children , elaine , beverly, patricia,fransi, clarence, sandra, robert.. if there is any one that can help , i would appreciate it, i'm tring to also find out who my grandpa john marko and josephs dad and mom were.

I am looking for any information on my grandfather who passed on in 1957. He had a barber shop in Binghamton NY and was a member of St. Michaels Greek Orthodox Catholic Church. He emmigrated from Chud'love Ukraine early 1900's.

My maternal grandfather is John Marko born in Chudlovo Apr 1886. We know he emmigrated to US via Ellis Island in April 1905 (he was 17). There is, in an offshoot of my family line, a Frank Marko that was born in 1897.......not sure if there is any possiblility that it is the same as Francis Marko (especially considering what his age would have been at death) but would be interested to know if the memorial lists a birthdate. His birthplace would most likely have been Indiana, Illinois or Colorado. More info?

My family was from Holynka. My gr-great grandfather was Yankel David Polak who married Freida____? They had eight children Deborah, Sol, Sam, Simon, Avram, Zalman, Rachmael, and Hannah. Sol, Simon, and Sam emmigrated to the US (the name changed to Pollack); Avram to Argentina. The rest stayed behind and were all killed by the Nazis. I beleive the story is that they were all buried alive.

Please let me know if you have any info on this family...

Mihaly Marko

MELROSE-Mihaly Marko, 66, of Melrose died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at
Shands at Alachua General Hospital in Gainesville.

Born in Mako, Hungary, Mr. Marko moved to Melrose from Interlachen 15 years
ago. He was a disabled U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a
member of St. William Catholic Church in Keystone Heights.

Mr. Marko is survived by: his wife Dolores Morrison Marko of Melrose; two
daughters, Spring McMillian of Tifron, Ga. and Dee Dee Delancy of Keystone
Heights; a son Misike Marko of Gainesville and six grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Marko was held Dec. 4, 2002 at St. William
Catholic Church in Keystone Heights with Father Moises Palaroan officiating.
Burial with military honors followed in Eliam Cemetery in Melrose. Moring
Funeral Home of Melrose was in charge of arrangements.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Marko.

Thank you for your help but Harvey Rushfeldt father was a Harvey Lyndon Rushfeldt who married Rose Margaret Marko
Her family is the one I am most interested in. I am looking for naturalization information for her parents and her Uncle and Aunt. who would be my grandparents.

I know of a Harvey Rushfeldt family.. Was Harvey's father Hans Rushfeldt? If so posibly I can give you some leads.

hi jean, i hope this information helps, my grandfather was john marko, he had 2 other brothers-joseph and steven marko.
john was married to a veronica maco, they had children, RobertJ. Marko-my dad,joann, elsie, stanly, mary,helen,
joseph had a son named john i think he wa smarried to a dorothy sweatland, and stephen was married to a marie i think.
joseph then married a maria gazovic-their kids were agnes, frank-your dad,edward.
i dont know anything on who my grandpa's marko's parents, do you ? joseph marko and my grandpa are brothers, grandpa john died when i was little, i'm 34 now.
can you give me what ever info . you might have.
