Colleen,
The ranch brand is the star on the left hip. I have the cow brand and Cousin Jack of Roundup, MT has it for the horse. In an old picture of grandad taken north of Williston, shows a circle one brand, with the 1 being inside of the circle. I don't know if that was his brand at one time, or just on a horse he bought.

Jim

Hi Wayne. Since Nanny died, we may never know who our real grandfather is. According to daddy's birth certificate, the fathers name was Earl Burden. I haven't pursued this information though, but good to know Ennis may be a starting point for documentation. Its been over a year since I researched the family...time just got away. Thanks for the reply.

Re: Marmon from Haigerloch, Baden-Württemberg

Markus,
I posted this inquiry because I had obtained information about 3 Marmon families who emigrated from Germany to Banat, Hungary in the 1700's, one line being from Haigerloch.
My Great Grandmother was Elizabeth Marmon, born in Mehala, Hungary, today it is a suburb of Timisoara, Romania. Her forefathers emigrated from Germany in the 1700's to Hungary. My cousin in Germany feels our line is "not" the one from Haigerloch, but from Trier. In the process I received a detailed report, accounting for "ALL" the known Marmons from Haigerloch, from a genealogist in Germany. The Marmon's who lived in Haigerloch were notable people. You probably know all that though. Do you have any Marmon's who lived in Hungary?
Please visit my web site: http://www.lifesadance.net/genealogy/index.htm
for more information.

Jody McKim
http://www.dvhh.org

It came by a Melchior Marmon(t) from Piemont or Aosta-Valley, Switzerland.
Maybe you find out, when the firs Marmons immigrated in the USA and can let me know that?
obit: Robert Marmon 1828-1901, Minnesota

Obituary:

Marmon - From the Attica correspondence of the Aitkin, Minnesota, Republican, we take the following particulars of the death of Mrs, Ruth Lacey's father:

Robert Marmon, who has been sick most of the time during the past two years, was taken worse on Saturday last, and died on Sunday morning (March 4, 1901) at 5 o'clock. Two of his sons were at work at a camp in Kimberly and were sent for, but did not arrive in time to see their father alive. Mr Marmon was a veteran of the Civil War, and throughout his life was an ardent Republican in politics.

He was born in Elkhart, Indiana, June 23, 1828 and was therefore nearly 73 years of age. The funeral was held Wednesday, services being conducted by Rev G A Wickwire, of Attica, and the remains were laid to rest in Mud Lake Cemetery. He was a kind husband and father and was universally respected by his neighbors. A wife and fourteen children survive.
This is a long shot...

I was born Marmon. My dad's (Murrel Wayne) birth record says Burden. He took the name of his REAL birth father Marmon when he was young. My grandmother, Alice, has the last name of Marmon on some records that I have been able to locate. No one knows anything about my dad's real father, my grandmother refused to talk about it and now she has Alzheimers.

So I was wondering.....anybody have any input ?

Thanks
Marisa

I believe this is my gr-gr-gr grandfather, my gr-grandfather was John Lawrence son of James T and James T son of John and Ellender on 1850 census. I think the wife of John (1782-1784 VA) name was Ellender from what I found on census and Greene Co, IL.info.They are also buried in IL. If you have any other info would be pleased to hear from you. Would also like to know first wife of James T and mother of John L. What I find is that they were all early settlers in Greene Co, IL

One of their daughters were born in Amsterdam Missouri. I have found Michael Marmon in Oneida Illinois thru another website and am wondering if this could be her father. Can anyone verify who was the father and mother of Agnes Marmon.Does 96 Cemetary have a listing somewhere? Thanks for your help!
