Good morning Veronica.
I don't know if your Marnins connect with mine. I have noticed the Marnins in Iowa but can't put them with mine. My Marnins go back to Simon and Clara Potter who were the parents of John (08.01.1840) and Patrick (1838). I suspect they were born in County Clare however, that is not certain. My late Uncle Ted owned a tavern in Pittsburg PA and named it the Cork Tavern. His daughter thinks the family came from County Cork. My Marnins ended up in Meadville, Crawford County in Pennsylvania. Patrick is believed to have been escorted out of town because he was constanlty getting into bar fights. Rumour has it he moved to ther Chicago area. My GGF John and his wife, Margaret Leland produced children named Martin, Bridget, Julia, Thomas, and Joseph.

I don't have a Catherine nor the McDonell sisters.

Mine are probably not related to yours as far as I know.

Thanks for the response. This was the first since 2005!

Happy hunting and if you do find a connection, I'd love to hear about it.

Ted Marnen

Dear tp: I am searching for a Catherine Marnin (Marnan) who married John O'Donohue from the Lismuse, Kilkee, County Clare area. John and Catherine had: John, Michael, Joseph, Delia, Katie and Patrick. Also, have two McDonnell sisters marrying a John Marnin and Thomas Marnin (brothers, sons of Michael) from Adair, Iowa in late 1890's. Do any of these connect with your family? Several spellings of Marnin exist in our family. Don't know which is correct. Would love any info you might have on these people. Veronica

Marnin, Marnen, Marnon, Marnan

I'm searching for information on the Marnins or any variation listed in the subject line. My Marnens came from County Clare in Ireland around 1860 to the U.S. and settled in Meadville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania. The 1st one here was a John Marnin (spelling as listed in the Census) 08.01.1840 who married Margarey Leland, 1849. His father was Simon Marnen and his mother was Clair Potter.

Of course, anyone who might have info, please, send email.

Ted Marnen
