Hi Nancy-
Sorry my message is several years behind.... I think I might be related to you. Were your grandparents Leonard and Anna Maron who lived in Buffalo? Was he a wrought iron worker and moved to CA from Buffalo?
Anna and Erna came to Denver to visit us when I was small. My grandfather William was a brother to Leonard, Rudolf, Augusta, Sigmund, Marta, Wunibald and Eugenia-- all born in Poland.

I think we are cousins. My grandfather William Maron had a brother Leonard. They came to America about 1906 from Poland.
Did Leonard marry a woman named Anna? Was he a wrought iron worker, and did they move to CA from Buffalo?

Anna and her daughter Erna came to visit us when I was a little girl when we lived in Denver.

Rose Abizaid Maron was my grandmother. Her father Aman George Abizaid was, I believe, brother to Louis,John G.,Murad and Antonius Abizaid. In the 1910 Census Louis Abizaid (age 27, son to an older Louis?) lived with his family and on the same census page was John G.,"Marda" probably Murad and Antonius and their families. In the 1920 census "Louis Abizid" with same family was living with my grandmother and her family, Aman now deceased. I would dearly love to know what happened to Aman. If you have any info on the Abizaids from Douma,Syria,please advise.Thanks

Murad Abizaid b. 1869 or 1870 m. to Annie lived in 1910 in Boston,Mass with his brothers John G. and Antonius and their families. Another brother (my great grandfather) was Aman Abizaid married to Martha Hage Nahhas Abizaid, also living in Boston (look under the name "Abizird" in 1910 census. I would dearly love to know what happened to Aman as sometime between 1910 and 1920 my great grandmother became a widow.

Do you know Julius wifes name. My gr gr grandmother was a Maronde. Her name was Bertha Louise. Her dad was Karl Maranda it says on her Wedding application. I understand why you put your surname here. De of Maronde could mean "of Maron" because that is what "de" means in Spanish, and I think there is a city in Spain called Maron. Not sure. Im not good at organization so Im not sure what country. But Im pretty sure it was Spain. My gr gr grandmother was born in Prussia and came over in 1888 with a Anne Maronde named as mother but her mother name on papers was Maria Louise Schindatovsky.{that could be two names not sure if she was married before as alot of these people were}

About the same time, my wife's great grandparents, Harry and Jennie (Lapidus) Maron came to Montreal. There is no clear recollection of from whence they came, and at least their first names may have been changed when they emigrated.

I could really use some help. Looking for ANY info on Charles Maron b. 1855 -1857 in Switzerland. He came to US in 1896. He married Anna ? abt 1900 and settled in Hawthorne, NJ. They had 4 children, Mildred Emma, William, Nellie, and John. I have them on the 1930 census but that is all I have. Does anyone know more?????

saw your name on Ancestry.com . I´m Michael Marohn from Germany. I saw, you look about Marohn in W-Prussia.

The last document I have, is from 1877. On this time Jacob Marohn (born in 1844) married Wilhelmine Dickau (born in 1856). The parents of Jacob were Michael and Anna Marohn (Wehr).

My ancestors with the MARRON,MARON,MAROHN surname came from Kreis Greifenberg, Prussia. I have traced the name from there as well as the name of WERGIN,FROHRICH,TANK, and MILDEBRATH going back to 1817. My gg-grandfather was Carl Georg Heinrich MARRON. He was born on 1817 in Stolitz, Prussia, near Greifenberg, Prussia. and he died in Clark County WI. He was married to Sophia Freidericke Henriette WERGIN, who was born on 1819 in Kussin, Greifenberg, Prussia. Together they had 9 children born in Parpart, Greifenberg, Prussia.

They were:
Ferdinand Friedrith August MARRON, Johan Carl August MARRON, Friederike Wilhelmine Louise MARRON, Bertha Auguste Emilia MARRON, Emilie Albertine Rosaline MARRON, Augusta Amelia Rosalina MARRON, Albertina Frederike Alwine MARRON, Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm MARRON, Rosaline Wilhelmine Conradine MARRON.

Most of these MARRONs moved to the USA in the late 1870s and early 1880s and some perhaps in the 1860s. Illinois and Wisconsin are the states that I am familiar with as to the location of some of the surnames of MARRON, TANK, WERGIN AND MILDEBRATH. It was common to find in the USA, the name of Marron, spelled MAROHN and MARON.

Would be glad to share information.

Hi, the Maron family lived around a town or villiage called Griefenberg(Polish name: Gryfice), Germany. Several of the children were born in Dresow. A daughter Wilhelmine was born at Guzelfitz, Germany in 1867. The records I found were from the Lutheran church located at Karnitz, Germany.

I had been in contact with you before but have learned more about my Great Grandmother Wilhelmine Maron. She married Franz Freidrich Ferdinand Zubke March 21, 1862.
Her father was Johann Friedrich Maron or Maronn. Her mother was Freiderike Kneiphoff or Kniphoff. At the time of her death she was survived by 4 sisters and three brothers.I know of 2 brothers and 1 sister. They are as follows.
August Friedrich Wilhelm Maron born July 3, 1846 at Zirkwitz
Ernst Heinrich Wilhelm born Januaary 17, 1849 at Zirkwitz
Johanna Friedrike Wilhelmine born February 22, 1851 at Zirkwitz.
Johanna married a Man named Rummin and died at Waubay South Dakota. They had no children.
Wilhelmine's given name was Caroline Wilhelmine Louise Maron

I wonder if anyone have information about this family:

Craig Edward MARON born in Los Angeles Co on May 7th 1954. Siblings are Barbara Lynn, Michael Robert and Dareen M Maron.

His mothers maiden surname was LANGSETH according to the Californian Birth Records. I hope to get to the mothers given name and also her date of birth. That will possibly lead me to the right Langseth family.

Any phone records or address lists from that periode available?

Mae (May) Maron is still being elusive.
I have acquired a certified marriage certificate of Mae & Gus Freeburg. On this certificate Mae listed her parents as Tom and Julia Walsh Maron.
A census in 1925 she advised that she was born in Scranton, PA.
Need help in finding more about her. She is the mother of my mother-in-law.

There was an Isaac Maron who married several times. The last I heard, which was in the mid 1990s, Isaac was living in the San Francisco area. He would have been in his 70s, I believe. His son, Dale Maron,lives in Honolulu.

Hi there. My grandfather was Charles John Abizaid, born in Boston in 1916. His father John George Abizaid emigrated from Lebanon in the late 1800s. John had a brother Louis George who also emigrated from Lebanon. I don't think that Rose was my grandfather's sister, but she could have been related. from what ive been told, my 'maron' relatives originated from lebanon but im having a hard time researching it. i talked with a woman from lebanon whose spelling of her name was maroun. she said that st. maron of france went to lebanon to try and convert the people to christianity hence the lebanese 'maronite chrisians'. i dont know if this is acurate. hope this helps

Not much is known of May Margaret Maron's past. She is the grandmother of my husband. May Margaret died in 1934 of T.B. from which she suffered for several years is buried here in IA. I managed to find in a 1925 local county census that May Margaret's father's name was "Tom" and her mother's name was Julia Walsch; she was born in Scranton PA in 1892. Then the rest is hit miss. She was apparently raised by an aunt uncle by name of Mr Mrs Dempsey in Omaha NE. First names unknown. In one of her obits, it says that her mother died when she was 5 yrs old. I have no idea where that info came from. I am trying to find any of her ancestors. Does she have siblings?? One of her parents apparently did. But have not been able to find anything there either. So I hope that someone out there reads this who has a link to the parents of May Margaret Maron. If so, please contact me. My email is micbil@rconnect.com.

I think Samuel L. parents were Will Maroney and Martha Officer
Maroney. Martha was b. 1822 died 1910.

The 1860 Webster County Missouri Census shows:
Samuel Maroney age 46 b. KY
Martha 36 b. TN
William 20 b. GA
John H. 13 b. GA
Jefferson 10 b. GA
Charles 8 b. MO
Also living with family was William Miser 18 who was a farm laborer.

It looks like this Samuel was the father of Will and grandfather of
Samuel L.

I think Martha Officer Maroney may have been the daughter of
Jefferson B. Officer and Drucinda Moore. They may have lived in
Lumpkin Co. GA.

Susan Caffey Maroney was the dau. of Joseph A. Caffey and Mary J.
Pickle. Joseph Caffey's parent were Thomas Caffey and Sarah Stokes
Caffey.

Hi, My mother's name was Minerva Abizaid Elias. Her Dad and my granddad was Murad Abizaid. Her mother was Anna (Hanni) Cory Abizaid. Anna, my grandmother came to the U.S. for the first time in 1905 with Murad and their first child, George who was 2 years and 6 months of age. She was 18yeaers old and Murad was 35 years old. Hi- saw your name on Ancestry.com Maron surname message board. Where in Poland did your Carl Maron come from, and what time period?
My gr-gr- grandfather was a Carl Maron who lived near Reischevo, Warsaw Poland in the mid 1860s or earlier. This family also spelled the name Marohn, as they had come to Poland (then Russia) in the early 1800s from Alsace, France. They were German Lutheran.
Many of the German Lutherans settled along the Vistula from Warsaw North Westerly to an area of Poland that was W. Prussia. I can't think of the name right now, but I know there were Marons who lived there too.

What kind of info do you need? My Carl Maron married Rosalie Shave and had several children, their son Robert Maron married Juliana Juliyet/Julietz? and had the following: Wilhelm, Leonard, Rudolf, Augusta, Marta, Sigismund, Wunibald and Eugenia. All the children came to either Buffalo or Toronto except Sigismund, who died in a prison camp during WWII in Siberia.
The others came in 1906, 1914, and the rest after WWII. Marguerite

My grandmother was a Maron - she came over with her family about 1914 from Germany - orig. from Russia - I don't know much - I do know they ended up in Souix City Iowa and she married in 1919 to Phillip Nelson. Also, I know she had 2 brothers, I found one his name was Isacc.

I know my grandmother's name was Ida and she had a brother named Simon who married a molly. I also know they had one more brother and one of the boys used the name Epstien as a last name. I believe my grandmother came from Luthawana (?)(sorry)
