Marquard and Marquardt (variations of the same name?)
I found a photo of a John V. Oppel, appears to be a "barbershop" quartet. The photo says H. Marquard and also J.V. Oppel on it the quartet is named the Hermann Quartet. An address given on it is 804 York Street (PROBABLY San Francisco--read below...) The "Hermann Quartet" is a b&w photo of four typical of the era German looking gents. Trying to find the proper family, I checked census on ancestry and mapping software and find a John Oppel and a J.V. Oppel who appear to match and suspect some other relatives living in San Francisco with wives, etc. in the right range 1900 to 1930. Occupation of one is brewmaster, in brewery, census of a John V. Oppel and suspect he may be of the quartet. I confirmed that there exists an 804 York St in San Francisco (but nearby, too, in Vallejo, and possibly Oakland). I suspect the SF address and photo matches up.
Wife, per the census born in Pennsylvania, Subject husband above born in Germany, and son of the above born in Pennsylvania.
ALSO Do you have some GOODSON in your lines and if so some additional photos (in album all together with Marquard and Oppel in the quartet photo...) I viewed of 3 brothers: Benjamin F., Addison, and Abner (3 bros) GOODSON related to Dr. Jesse Norman GOODSON and showing also a Bertha GOODSON Hoover, a Vianna GOODSON Bale, may somehow connect...several photos of the above GOODSON folks taken by W Fordyce (studio) Glasgow, Iowa....and there is a notation regarding Canton, Missouri as well.
I am unrelated to the GOODSON and Oppel but post for your info. I suspect that Oppel and GOODSON somehow related but perhaps not. PHOTO ALBUM of GOODSON has several photos and some names above which I post for your review. If nothing else you have some names which go together for GOODSON searchers and a location.
