Hi. I have an Ellen Marquardt born Inverell on 6 November 1917 in my family tree. It is not the same date of birth as your grandmother's though. The Ellen Marquardt on my family tree was a daughter to William Ambrose Marquardt and Linda Bercini. McCarthy is a surname in our family tree as well (next generation up).

I realize your post is several years old now so maybe you are no longer reading this or no longer interested.

My grandmother's family was named Marquard and they lived in San Francisco from the late 1890s. Her brother was Henri or Hanry Marquard. They were born in Germany. Henri's wife was Louise. He and his brother Rudolf were supposed to have been butchers in San Francisco. That's all I know.

Fred Marquardt- Lobeens to Traverse Co., MN- d 1922(?)

I'm having trouble finding any information on the death of Fred (b Friedrich Wilhelm) Marquardt. One World says Fred Marquardt Born: 25 Feb 1839 Died: 22 Apr 1922
He is buried at Pleasant Hill Cemetery,Taylor Township,Traverse County,Minnesota. But in checking the MN Death Index page by page for 1921-24 in Traverse, Wilkin & Otter Tail Co., I still do not find him listed. The birthday is wrong (in light of Lobsens records), and so perhaps the death record is not quite right either.
My brother tried searching Breckenridge and Wheaton newspapers and found nothing. His funeral may have been at Tenney, MN (Wilkin Co.) (as was his wife's Christine in 1940). Thanks for any help here.

I am not sure if you researching Marquardt line. If you are Edwin F. Marquardt was in the Roller Derby went Spider Marquardt and his partner was his wife E. Marquardt she went by Patsy Kelly. They were villans and toured and were in the paper in Chicago,Ill. and Calif. He also owned Marquardt Trucking Co. in St. Louis, Mo. He also played Professional Hockey. They hung out with the family that owned the Budwieser place in I guess St. Louis. Not sure if they were related or just best friends. Edwin's family were all Masons so check the Masonic Lodges. Even his sisters and daughters last I have own his daughter she was a Jobs daughter or something like that. superplatinumx@yahoo

My husband's family descends from a Marquardt family with Michigan City and Indiana connections. A Marquardt (female) married a Muller and they lived in Chicago. They were my husband's gr.grandparents. I think Michigan City is a port through the Great Lakes so it would make sense that they came into that area first. I may have more infomation, but it is stored in another state at the present time. Still, wanted to make a connection with others researching the same family.

Hello everyone,
This is a shot in the dark. While talking to an elderly relative she mentioned that the name Makurath came from the Surname Marquardt sometime in the 1700-1800's in Germany. Maybe that's why I'm having so much trouble finding any of my ancestors in Germany. Has anyone heard of this. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

ED Schramm

I have much of the data you are seeking re: Gustav Marquardt, the son of Adolph and Justena (nee Martins)Marquardt of East Prussia, as well as on Gustav's siblings and children. I am, however, seeking additional material on two of his brothers, Heinrich (Henry) and Ludwig, as well as additional Marquardt family history, particularly confirmation that Gustav Adolph and Bertha Pauline (nee Klohn) Marquardt are in fact Gustav's grandparents, as I have 19th Century Gage Co.,Nebraska, records that would seem to indicate otherwise. I would be pleased to share this information with you via E-mail or airmail.
