hi, I am trying to find out the name of my 3rd great grandfather with the last name of Marquis. It was rumored that he almost lost his head to the guillotine in France but we are not sure why or if this was even true.

He apparantly fled to england and married. He had a son named Henry who in turn married a Rose Stern. They had 8 children - beatrice, caroline (carrie), daisy, emmeline (my great grandmother who was the oldest), george, henry, marjorie, and rose. They were born between 1871 - 1894 (if i have the years correct) and they were all born in Forestgate, england otherwise know as West Ham.

All that I know about 2nd great grandfather is that he went to Merrimack masschusetts with Beatrice and died there.

If anyone has a connection or an idea of what I am talking about, I'd appreciate some hints or directions to where to go next.
