OLD TOWN - On May 15, 2009, our family lost our hero. William B. Marquis Sr., 74, was born June 26, 1934, in Old Town, a son of Henry and Alice (Chamberlain) Marquis. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served more than 20 years. While in the Air National Guard, stationed at Bangor International Airport, he worked with the Army National Band and also with the Air Force Security Police and fire departments for 18 years. He also retired from Fort James after 19 years of service. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 54 years, Laura (Guay) Marquis; four sons, William Jr. and his wife, Linda, Mike and his wife, Mary, Gilbert and his wife, Paula, and Carl; a daughter, Alice; a brother, Robert and his wife, Jeanne; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; special friends, Dick, Judy and Paul; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted 3 p.m. Interment with military honors will be afterward at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately after the services, all are invited to the Veterans' of Foreign Wars Post, Water Street, for continued fellowship and a luncheon.
