Classification: Query
Surnames: Mars, Marrs, Marr, Terrell
I've hit a dead-end searching for information concerning Gilbert Mars (Marrs, etc., depending on handwriting) Born in N.C. abt. 1805, married Sarah ? . Moved to Alabama bef. 1840, (where Census shows a Gilbert Mars in Chambers Co.)He moved to Titus (now Morris Countyy, TX bef. 1860. Census show his father born in VA.
Children included: Nathan G., William, Dorsey, John H., Sarah, Thomas, and Alonzo (my gg grandfather). John H. and Alonzo married 2 sisters, Ann and Elizabeth Terrell.
Gilbert's children were all born in either NC or AL and moved to Texas with Gilbert and Sarah. Many of their descendents still reside in Northeast TX.
It's hard to say how Gilbert would've spelled his surname as it varies so widely, but my g-grandfather spelled our name "Mars"
Thanks,
Michael Mars
