My Martinezs came to Las Animas County by 1900 then to El Paso County by 1920. Francesquita was born in 1870, not sure where, but Taos County, New Mexico is always a safe bet. She married and had several children including Tomasita, Clorinda and my grandfather Joseph Refugio. Ring any bells? Bobbi

I was reading your post and I am looking for a Feliciates Duran from New Mexico, who might possibly have the Martinez name. Her father worked for a sheep rancher with the last name of Martinez. Do you have any information on the Duran side of the family at all you might like to share. Also, was your g-grandmother part Native-American and/or Mexican? Please contact me at PPangier@usa.net.

Thanks,

Paula

Julian Martinez (Martin?) from Morenci, Az

Julian Martinez was born in Tepatitlan, Jalisco, Mexico in 1902. His sister, Marina was also born there. His 2 brothers, Margarito and Santiago (Chago) were born in Morenci, Arizona. Their parents were Jose Gertrudis Martinez and Norberta Ballego Cruz. Julian may have changed his name to Julian Martin. He supposedly moved to the Chicago area, married, and settled there. Julian was my uncle and I would like to hear from his family.

As I have researched my family roots I have found that there many Juans and Joses for males and Marias for females. Most of them were known by their middle name thus that is the V. Check for any relatives that might remember the name or I found some old letters that had name clues
