My great grandfather was Joseph Marty born 1881 in Switzerland(from the German-Swiss side)He married a woman named Anna.Joseph and Anna Marty lived in San francisco many years.Joseph died at the age of 100.One of Joseph and Anna's children were Marie Lena Marty(also called Mamie or Mary)She married Ralph Robert Chapman and had my dad William(Bill)Raymond Chapman who died in 1992.I am looking for any Marty connection as I have little information.If anyone suspects he is in their line,please let me know.Thank you.

Hartmann Marty of Othmarsingen Switzerland and Omro Wisconsin

Hartmann Marty left Othmarsingen Switzerland Dec 20, l854 and settled in Winnebago or Waukesha Wisconsin. He was married to Elefe Geyser, who died Jan 24,1870. They had 4 children, Elise and Emil, born in Othmarsingen and Anna and Mary Jane born in Waukesha. He then married Maria L. Drew and they had 4 children,all born in Omro Wisconsin. They were Fanny Louisa, 6/21/71, William 7/24/73,Abbie ll/18/75 and Frank, 6/29/80. Frank was my grandfather. He married Crystal Bartlett in Omro. They had 3 Children, Don-my father, Marian and Elizabeth. I have been to Othmarsingen many times and have established several close Swiss friends. The church yard cemetery
is full of Marti's, and Hartmann's father,Jacob died in Othmarsingen, but we haven't found his grave, though over time the Swiss reuse the plots so that could explain that. We have never been able to trace any living relatives amongst the Martys(i) in Othmarsingen. My queries are two fold: Does anyone have any information on the other lines from Hartmann other than my father and anything relating to relatives of Jacob and Hartmann living in Switzerland?

Hi,my grandma was a Marty,Marie Irene Marty,she had several sisters,Rose Marty,Josephine Marty.She had a couple of other sisters and a brother.She went by the nickname Mamie for years.she married a Ralph Chapman.Later in life she married jerry mann.All I know is that the family came From the German speaking part of switzerland and one family member had a hotel near the Rhine River,I believe.I believe her dad's name was Joseph Marty.he died at the age of 100.

I looked through my family tree and I have a Louisa Marty not Louis. The Marty family spelled their name 3 different ways: Marti, Marty, Martee. The Marty family I have came from Freimettingen, Canton Bern, Switzerland.

I'm doing a house history for a house here in Newport, KY, and I believe this house was probably built by William Marty, the son of Louis and Frances Marty. They lived in Cincinnati in 1900 but his wife Amelia (Emily, Amolina) and son Albert lived there in 1910 and 1920. It was built in 1906. Possible it was built by somebody else and then occupied by the wife and son a couple of years later. The house is 325 East 3rd Street.

Census records indicate that William Marty probably owned a feed mill, as he is shown as "Feed Dealer" and "retired feed mill." His son Albert is shown as stock-keeper for Soap Co. or Soap Factory in later years.

Frances Marty is shown with $28,000 of real estate in 1870.

I am the granddaughter of Olaf Harry Stafney (born 9/3/1890) in Swede Grove township, the son of Ole Olson Stafney (born 7/15/1860) in Norway. Ole's wife is Anna Johnsdotter Gronning (born 4/2/1865) in Norway. Olaf was married to Loretta Pearl Gray in 1912 and they had a son born in 1913, Dean Jesse Gray. Olaf was a brother to Minnie, Christina, Josephine, Olga, Jalmer, Gertrude, Custer, Lowell, and Laurie Stafney. Pearl and Olaf were married 9/29/1912. They produced Dean Gray Stafney. I am the daughter of Dean Gray Stafney. Olaf died 3/6/1974.

A report to members of the family stated a car in which he was a passenger ran off the road and overturned on the Towley road near Grafton. Born June 23, 1912, he spent the greater part of his life in the Wood County area untl he moved to Ohio about 15 years ago where he was employed as a foreman at the Republic Steel Co. in Cleveland. The son of the late George W. Marty and Annie Clark Marty, he is survived by his wife, Gertie Leach Marty, one daughter, Annie Overy of Grafton, O.; one son Ray Marty, at home: three sisters, Mrs. Clara Schultz, Mrs. Rosa Robinson and Mrs. Helen Green, all of Parkersburg: four brothers, Julis of Alliance, O., Selby of Sandusky, O., Jacob of Belleville, W. VA., Earnest of Mineral Wells. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Hale and by one brother, Lewis Marty. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Grafton, O. Who knows the name Conrad Marti, born 1860, married Anna Elmer, born 1874. They had two sons Heinrich and Johann-Ulrich, born about 1892. Johann Ulrich married Ima Rufer from Monroe/Wisconsin. He was the cousin of my greatgrandmother.

Yes Jim, that is my Nicholas Marty. I have just located Nicholas Marty age 66 in 1880 in Sugar Creek, Wayne Co., OH. He and Eliz are living next to John, Mary, Clara, Alice, and Henry. My Nicholas is also listed in 1860 in Bucyrus, Crawford Co., OH living with JOhn Cramer (Cremer) and is listed as 16. He lived with them to learn the art of shoe making and then married his daughter Marie/Mariah. Since this census lists him as 16 I am guessing he had gone back home to see his folks and they couldn't remember how old he was or the time was just enough difference that he had moved and got listed twice. But I feel it is the same guy even if the age is wrong. Just living with them they probably didn't have an idea about his age. Would like to exchange info with you.

My Aunt Wilma also said he lived in New Philadelphia, OH, Masolin,. OH, Bucyrus, OH and Oskaloosa, IA. She said he landed in NY at the age of about 12 and thought they had relatives in Oh is why they went their. She also said he learned the art of making shoes from Mr. Cramer and that is how he met Maria. And that Mariah was Pensylvania Dutch. Hope this helps. How is your mother?

MARTY - The Monument, Yolo county, December 20, 1911,

Bernardin Marty, father of Antone, Ben, Joseph, Martin MARTY of Sacramento, Frank Marty of Germany, and Mrs. Peter MEISTER of Switzerland, aged 82 years 2 months and 5 days.

Friends are welcome at the home of Harry A. Nauman, 1811 G street.

Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend the funeral today (Saturday) from St. Francis Church, corner Twenty-sixth and K streets, where a solemn requiem high mass will be offered up for the repose of his soul, commencing at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Joseph cemetery.

I am looking for relatives of Minnie Stafney, who was married to my grandpa's brother, Harry Elmer Rome. They lived in Minnesota at least some of their lives. Harry, called Elmer, grew up in Wayzata, Minnesota. His stepfather was Royal Corbin Moore of Moore Boat Works in Wayzata. I know Minnie and Elmer's children, but they say they've lost all their Stafney relatives. Anybody out there?

My father was the brother of Floyd Naegeli Sr. They were all form North Dakota but I believe their family was from Minnesota. Hello, My name is Robert Naegeli. Althought this is 5 years later I hope you receive this message. My father was Floyd Naegeli Sr's. brother. His name was Harold Leland and the other brother was Warren. They were all born in North Dakota. Harold was also a dentist and served in WWII and retired in Lawton, Ok. He passed away in Jan of 86. Warren was a pharmacist and lived on Lake Pokegima(sp) Minn. which is in the NE corner of the state. He passed away before Harold but don't know the date. His son is a physicist in San Antonio. I have a Aldis MARTY married to Katharina (maiden name unknown.) Aldis and Katharina born circa 1810 in probably Kussnacht, Switzerland.

Their daughter, Catharina Barbara MARTY, born c 1840, Switzerland, married Franz Dominic SIDLER.

Franz Dominic and Catharina Barbara had a daughter, Josephine (Josepha) SIDLER, born 29 Feb 1868, Kussnacht, Schwyz, Switzerland.

Josephine married Frank FLEISCHMANN 22 Nov 1894, Kussnacht Am Rigi, Schwyz, Switzerland. (Though one family story has them marrying in Minnesota. Still researching to see which is correct.)

Frank and Josephine emigrated to the United States sometime in the 1890s. Then some of the family went west to Washington State, where we still are.

My purpose here is two-fold: (1) to find out more of the MARTY family in Switzerland, and (2) to find out if any of them also emigrated to the United States.

Came across your posting while researching MARTY family and Switzerland.

I have a Catherine Barbara MARTY, born c 1840, Kussnacht, Schwyz, Switzerland. Her parents were Aldis MARTY and Katharina (maiden name unknown.

Catherine Barbara MARTY married Frank (or Franz) Dominic SIDLER. Their daughter, Josephine (or Josepha) married Frank FLEISCHMANN.

Frank and Josephine emigrated to the United States around the 1890s. Then part of the family came to Washington State where we are now.

IWould like to correspond with relatives of the Marty family who ran trading posts in Arizona in the early 1900's. Oscar Walter Marty ran a trading post on the Navajo Reservation at Greasewood Springs, Arizona. His brother, E. J. Marty, was at the Indian Wells post. Lloyd Marty, Oscar's son, is my step-dad.
