Classification: Query
Surnames: Masson, Pitt, Keay
We are searching for information about the family of George Masson and Ann(e) Keay Masson (nee Pitt) who according to the 1881 Census lived at 106 St Georges Road, Peckham with their family. Martha (c1867) Amy (c1869), Alfred (c 1871), William (c 1874), and Jessie.(?) Their eldest son Edward was in the Marines at Chatham and in the early 1890s was stationed in Australia where he was discharged and married Mary Hayward.
We have been able to find Ann and Jessie in the 1891 and 1901 census. William appears in the 1891 census and we suspect we have found him in Australia but cannot prove it while Alfred appears to have been on board ship and then disappears. George died in 1887 at Camberwell and there is an entry for Ann Masson in the Death Indexes for 1916 in St Albans, Herts. But what happened to the others. The marriage indexes are less than helpful bec if you find one party it's next to impossible to find the other unless you know a name.
Does anyone know anything about this family or can make suggestions of how to track them? We are hopeful that someone might have some knowledge of the family or that perhaps some other part of the family might just happen to read this.
Thanks, Glenys
PS I'm in Australia near Newcastle NSW
