John Mathis born June 1866 in Texas, Father Georeg Mathis of TN, Mother, Mary M. Hammons of MO. John married Martha Ellen Gardner around 1879. Per the 1900 Indian census they were married 11 years. Martha was born in MO, parents were born in VA, no names of parents yet found. One child of John and Martha was born in Ark and the rest born in Indian Territory. Have list of names and years of births. One son was in WWI and was discharged in 1918 or 1919.

Martha is buried in Oklahoma in 1906. Be side her lays a Eva and Ellen Gardner. I can't find out who these ladies are. Also Georeg and Mary Mathis are buried nearby.

Not long after Martha's death John and his children moved to Texas where he died. Some say he died of an haying accident.
