Hi,
My great great grandfather was John F. Matt and his wife was Martha Matt. My mom's (LaDona Ihmels/Matt) mother (my grandma who I never met) was Anna Matt (sister to Alma, Bertha, Lena, Emma (your mom), Avie (Ewald), Olga, Emil and Margaret).

I have just begun the lengthy task of finding our roots and I am starting with John Matt. From what I understand, he was born July 2nd 1879 in Poland and came to the U.S. around 1903. I went with my parents to the gravesites and took digital pictures of all the grave stones....in case you are interested.....
Do you have any information for me regarding John Matt??? I know some folks in the family have researched this and am planning on seeing Avie & Jeanette in the near future.

Here is what I know........

John had 2 brothers....Joe & Fred Matt.
I found John's 1918 war registration stating he was from Russia-Poland.
I also found the 1930's census that listed all his kid's names....they lived at 1133 Trendley in East St. Louis IL. (Originally 1132 Trendley, however, he built a big house for all his kids and then the little house burnt down during the race riot.

I'm searching for information on ANTOINE and HARRIET (nee Barber) MATT and their descendents. I'm a direct descendent of Antoine Matt whom arrived in Australia sometime around 1860 and would dearly love any information or to help out anyone interested in the same Matt family.

I am also doing research on the Matt family from Mauren, Liechtenstein. I am descended from Kreszenz Matt who married Johann Wohlwend in 1804 in Mauren. I was wondering if you were able to find more information on the Matt family from Liechtenstein and would be willing to share it with me.

My grandmother's (Mildred E. McDonald) birth record says her mother's maiden name was AUGUSTA MOTT(MATT). But Mildred's marriage certificate says her mother was Catherine A. MOTT(MATT). Augusta married James E. McDonald in New Haven Ct in 1895. According to their marriage certificate James' wife is listed as Augustina MOTT(MATT). Augustina's father is listed as Augustin MOTT. . Are there any MATT/Mott relatives who can clarify this?

I am one of the descendents of the Matts in St. Clair County (Illinois) which is right across the river from St. Louis, Missouri.

Many of the Matts are still living in St. Clair County. The Belleville Public Library located in Belleville, Illinois has a large genealogy department from which I have gathered much Matt information.

I found your post after I did my own independent research and fit your father Jewell into my family tree. I think I also dicovered that he died very recently in the SSDI. I'm very sorry. I fit you into my family tree and dicovered that you are my third cousin. H, No I don't think so, I think they were living in Cumberland Maryland and they got married at St. Peters & Paul's Catholic Church in Cumberland Maryland, but they could of moved out to Montana but I am not sure on that though.

Do you know of a Brig General N,B. Matt, Comm 1st Brig of the Sec Division of the U S Army? I think this is Civil war era because the inscription is in an 1855 religious book "Footprints" by Gaddis ( I think the scroll writing is a N but could be a W or K?) thank you

All I have on William Matte and Modesse is his mother's name was Marie: Marie was listed as living in Restigouche, New Brunswick in the 1901 Census. Her children were also living with her. No husband is provided.

Her children were:
William b. 1876 in Quebec
Marie b. 1872 in Quebec
Elizabeth b. 1878
Joseph b. 1880 in Quebec
Celina b. 1885 in Quebec
Jean B. b 1888 in Quebec

I do show that William had a son named Gerard b. in Bathurst, New Brunswick and that Gerard married Riata Larocque. I also show that Gerard and Rita had a son named Yvon Matte who married a Sharon Dale.

This information was provided to me by relatives of Yvon Matte. Taat is all I have on this family.

Hi I have a Catharina Anna Matt who married a Ignatius Ben Dom Stegmaier. There kids were Joseph Lawrence Paul born May 28th 1901, Raymond Francis Demian born July 14th, 1888, Robert Bernard born May 9th 1890. I would like info on Catharina Anna Matt parents and if she had any brothers or sisters and when she was born, and when she got married to Ignatius Ben Dom Stegmaier would be nice.
