My line of Mattoon descends from Philip, Gershom, Gershom, Christopher, William Smith, George Washington, Charles W, Charles W., John to me. I am especially interested in finding other Mattoon's from my line of Gershom's. I believe though I have no date that the second Gershom came to New York. On the 1790 census a Gershom is in Ballston, Albany Co. Then because of county changes, he is in Saratoga County in 1800. Gershom and Christopher are both listed in 1810. Somewhere along the line Christopher Mattoon goes to Columbia County, NY. I would like to find a death date for Gershom Mattoon, somewhere in Saratoga County maybe.
