I am looking for information on the parents and/or siblings of Dr. Charles William Mattox who married Mary Emily Marshall on 15 Dec 1840 in Clinton County, IL, then moved to Missouri. Charles and Mary had at least 9 children (Albert Granville, Mary, Lue, Laverna, Roenah, Charles William, Marsela Luticia (Lula/Lucy), Thomas/Breckenridge and Isadora (Dora). They had settled in Worth County, MO and during the Civil War, Dr. Charles went off to "minister to the troops" and never returned. He is shown as having been born in Kentucky about 1820 (Mary Marshall Mattox was born in VA.) but a family letter states that his father's name was also Charles William Mattox and that he was a barrister in Richmond, VA, however, I have been unable to find any information on him. Ring any bells? My great great grandmother was Roenah Mattox. Happy to share any info I have!
