Sorry, I don't have that person in my line. My GGF, Albert G. Maughan was born in NC in 1818, moved across southern USA (GA, Al, MS) and died in Arkansas 1862. I have no parents or siblings for him.

Only Cathorine I have was born in 1830, TN (she was a Pulse and married a Guinn in Texas)

Researching MAUGHAN from (1800's) NC, GA, MS, AL, AR, and (1900"s) TX(Dallas/Ft. Worth area)

Hello,
I think there was a Catherine Maughan in the family line I am tracing, she was married to James and was born in about 1796. They might have been from Ireland.
please contact me if this sounds like the same Catherine.

Hello,
I haven't found a Catherine in the Maughan line I am looking at, but I have only traced back until about 1821.
The Maughans I am looking for start with James a millwright who had a son called Thomas who married Elizabeth Harbott, then they must have moved to London. Sarah, Mary, William and Thomas were born there.
I think they came from Durham Hewith.
Please let me know if there is any connection with your research.
I think there was a connection at some point with a brewery in the North-East?

I am trying to locate any family of Alexander Maughan who died in Pennsylvania, USA on the 2nd June 1902. Also his wife Elizabeth Maughan nee Cairns. Alexander was born in Ireland moved to County Durham as a young boy with his family. E;izabeth was born in Northumberland and married
Alexander in County Durham before emigrating to Pennsylvania
they had 10 children but onlt 6 survived. The surnames connected to the family in Philade;phia are Moyer, Shelley,
and Busch.
Any help would be most appreciated and these names are taken
from research I have had done on my family.

Cooper and Maughan of Newbiggin.

I am looking for information on my gg grandparents Robert
and Elizabeth Maughan nee Macknight who were born in Northern Ireland between 1817/20. I know they came to county
Durham in 1848/49 with 5 children, Alexander, Robert, Thomas,Jane and Henry. My gg grandfather worked for Lord
Londonderry as a miner. The only information I have is County Down and I wonder if there are any one whose Irish
Ancesters came over about the same time and settled in County Durham that might conect with my family. Any info
would be most appreciated in the search for my Irish Rootes.
In the 1851 English Census the family name is recorded as
McMahon.

Janet Maughan an author in the 1800's & her book 'The St. Aubyn's of St.Aubyn.

Is anyone on the board related to Janet Maughan the author who lived in the 1800's? One of the books she wrote was 'The St.Aubyn's of St.Aubyn'. She was also the author of 'Charlie Neugent'.

Has anyone ever seen the book or owns the book 'The St.Aubyn's of St.Aubyn'? The book was first published in 1862, and I have a note in front of me that it was also printed in 1874 in the University of South Carolina.

Also is it known, if they were saved, where Janet Maughan's notes she took to write the book 'The St.Aubyn's of St.Aubyn' may be kept?

I am related to John Maughan b 1676 who lived there. There were another John (Christmas day 1735) and a Thomas (1685)who were married there. They are my direct line, but could not find a Robert direct.

Thanks, that is what I have. Problem is what was the month, day and county of death. I am hoping the death certificate would say who her parents where. I went to the Fayette County Court house but could not find he. She was buried as a Mahan but should have been buried as a Jackson. I checked both names for the whole year and couldn't find her. I believe her death cert. is in Shelby County. I would love to be able to find her so I could fill in that piece. Any ideas?

I searched search Nancy Lee's death certificate in Fayette County but could not find it. I believe she may have died in Shelby County, Illinois but have been unable to check there. I am hoping that someone can get the chance to check Shelby County death records. It would be a lot easier if I knew her actual death date and not just the year.

Reference Granville Mahan's parents, I am not convinced I have the right parents. The information was sent to me by someone else. I have found no proof. I do believe his mother was Mary but can't find the last name.

Is your Michael the brother of Joseph Maughan who md. Elizabeth Harris. Joseph is buried in Yankee Hill Cemetery. I have Joseph's parents as William & Mary Maughan. The large family of William and Mary are in the 1880, Midland Precinct, Lancaster Co., NE census. In the house is a grandson, Richard age 2, born in Eng. so I figure the family migrated the the US sometime between 1878 and 1880.

My great x4 grandfather was Robert Maughan born in Haltwhistle in 1764. He married Mary Turnbull ( b 1768) at Simonburn Church in Sept 1787.

I have some additional photos of Josephine, Floyd, and one of their children but need this information to post these other photos. If you have any additional information, I would greatly appreciate it.

Most of the records I’ve come across do not have accurate information on Floyd. Some give his birth location as “of, Logan” while others indicate that he may have been from Kansas. I suppose this makes sense since I have a picture of Josephine in Kansas, but am not sure if he was from Asherville, Kansas or not.

I am looking for relatives that were born in Durham in the late 1800's. They had a son named Robert James Maughan. He died in Pgh, PA in 1957. He had 16 children that were born in PA in 1920-1947. His wife's name was Sadie. Some of the childrens names were Laura Belle, Dorthy, Madeline, Chuck, Harry, William, Shirley, Anna Mae.

My best friend thru junior high & high school was Kathy Maughan in Palos Verdes, California. She committed suicide on my graduation day on June 19th, 1975. She was going to stay in school for another year to qualify to Harvard. She came from a large family, her little sister was named Sue. I just found her "in memoriam" card among my mom's stuff today. Her dad was a doctor & her mom was a homemaker, they were in the church of Latter Day Saints. Do you know of this family?
