dear dw,

I live in Georgia but was born and raised in Missouri.
I sent to the National Archives and have most
of the items you mentioned in your e-mail.

At Murphy's cemetary, behind Mathias's stone to the
left is William "Mock". That is John William Mauk.
Mathias's oldest son, John William was my great-grandfather, his oldest son Charley Mauk was my grandfather. John William died when he was
47 and his widow, Jo Ella (Marchbanks)Mauk eventually (I'm not sure when) moved to Poplar Bluff. She raised the younger children there. I'm also hunting for information on her.

Hope you have a safe trip to the Bluff. If I learn anymore on Emily, I'll be glad to share. Gloria

gloriaf59...thanks for the quick reply. You likely have much more on Mathias Mauk than I do. I have some information about his application for pension and a copy of Emily's request for it after his death in 1912. I have a copy of their marriage certificate too. We live in California and are going to Poplar Bluff this Sunday.
Thanks and if I find more I will pass it along.
dw

Do you have more info that you have not listed? If not, thanks for the reply.

I have a copy of the marriage certificate of Mathias Mauk's marriage to Emily Wynn.

Yes Rosie is a descendant of Jacob and Susannah Walters Mauk. Their son Samuel who was married to Margaret Lingenfelter was her Grandfather. Are you descendant of Rosie or of the Watkins side of the family? Or of the Harrison part of the family? By the way Daniel F. and Mariah Miller Harrison are buried in the Timblin Cemetery , Ringgold Twp., Jefferson Co., PA. You suggest Mariah might be Milliron not Miller. Why?
I have learned tht her mother was Margaret Jack but can not find her father's name. Margaret Jack Miller married George Ellenberger after the death of his first wife. Mariah Harrison is listed as a surviving half sister in the obituary of Elizabeth Ellenberger Snyder.
The son you hve a Jacob Dale was Jerald Dale( his obit and tombstone) one of the ceasus records has him as Jacob.
Nellie Watkins born June 1898 married Frank Crozier; Anna Mae Watkins born 24 July 1899 in Timblin, Ringgold Twp., Jefferson Co., PA first married Ned McCartney. They had one daughter Betty J. McCartney Hennesey. Ned died in 1937. in August 1950 Ann Mae Watkins McCartney became the second wife of Theodore M. Kurtz son of Senator Theodore M. & Alice Maude Rowan Kurtz. Anna Mae died 2 May 1983 in St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis, Indiana. She was living there at the time with her daughter. Anna Mae and both of her husbands are buried in Circle Hill Cem., Bell Twp., Jefferson Co., PA .
When Mariah Miller married Daniel Harrison she was not a widow...I question if she ever married Jabez Bunting Watkins who died in Douglas Co., Kansas in 1921. He became a wealthy famous man. I can find no indiction in his estate papers that he ever knew he had a son.
I will share my information on Watkins, Harrison, Mauk, and Reitz. Contact me at Keydup@penn.com for further information. JoAnne

Hi Margaret,

I was just wandering around in the genealogy webpages and saw your posting on Gottlieb Mauk. You may already be aware of this, but if you’re not, there is a DNA project going on with the Mauk, Mock, Mauck, Mauch, etc. line. The reason your query caught my eye is that my GG grandfather, Franklin’s line has the same numbers (in the beginning of the dna string) as Gottlieb’s descendant, Harold. Please, forgive me for not remembering names tonight – I have already gotten out of that website.

Anyway, the website is: http://members.cox.net/dmauck/Chart/

When they run this test, they can run it in a ‘general’ fashion – for a certain fee, but if you want the full treatment, so to speak, you pay more. My cousin was not in a position to do that. I asked my half-brother to send in a swab, but he wasn’t interested.

Hope this helps, although I suspect you have progressed a long way since you posted your original message.

Sincerely,

Cynthia Mauk Perkins

P. S. I tried to send an e-mail to you directly, but it bounced back. Sorry.
I just saw my grandmother Francis Freedman today, and she said that George Mauk, her husband, was in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. I was just in the Navy for the most recent Gulf War in 2003. I was on board USS Abraham Lincoln.

My Grandmother said she was born in Houston, and Met George Mauk at choir practice in a Methodist church down there. That is a possible connection. I think I might be related to the Pennsylvania Mauk's. See this photo.

http://www.birdsofafeather1.com/photos/maukgallery.htm

Notice the Hight Cheek bones and cleft chin of the males. I have both of those features, and my sisters baby pictures look just like the little girls in these photos.
