Hi, My name is Judy. My daughter is married to a Maulding. His grandfather was Melvin Maulding, great grandfather was Roy D. Maulding. I have found Roy D. Maulding on census 1920 & 1930 in Nebraska, both say he was born 1893 Missouri. I have not been able to find him in the 1900 census. My daughter is wanting to know who his parents were. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Judy

Sarah Elizabeth Maulding m. George A. Ivie - Atlanta, GA area

I am looking for information on Sarah Elizabeth Maulding (b. 1834)- whom I believe to be the daughter of ?? Maulding and Susannah Humphries, with siblings William H. (b. 1828), John W. (b. 1829), James W. (b. 12/7/1830 and served K, E 41st GA Infantry in the Civil War) and Mary Susan (b. 1835).

As stated she married George A. Ivie of Lawrenceville, Gwinnett, GA. They stayed in GA for a number of years and about 1868 moved up to Indiana - most of the family ended up in Shelbyville, Shelby, Indiana (George A. had died by then) but they may have been in the Columbus, Bartholomew, Indiana area before that.

If anyone can verify this, or provide documentation, or additional information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Marianne Spencer
Indianapolis, Indiana

The spelling is 'Ressie" - Viola Ressie Maulding was my grandmother.

She had two brothers - Ervin (spelling?) and Glen. Ervin killed himself / was killed at a young age - Glen died in Alaska nearly twenty years ago (I went to his funeral as a small child)

Vi married four times - the first died after their first child, and as she died in 1998, I can't remember his name. After that, she married a Durham, a Frazier, and a Trudeau.

My e-mail is thesilenceofthefrogs@yahoo.com

Please send me any information you have (if you ever check this - I see that it was written years ago), as I am in the effort of making a memorial book for her to distribute to my family on July 26th, 2008, the 10 year anniversary of her death. I will share any and all of my knowledge with you.

Thank you eternally

There were several of the Mauldings in Stoddard County. You might try that. I have not done much with Richard yet as my line is with his sister, Mary, (3rd great grandmother) who married John Wesley Daily. I have just started on the Maulding branch and I got a LOT of info on them on The Yesterdays of Hamilton Co., Illinois website. Some of the obits of the Mauldings show going from Mo. to Wisconsin and Michigan. I was born and raised in Hamilton Co. and I didnt know about the Maulding School! I wish I had been interested in all this before I left the area and before all my older relatives passed away. Be sure to check out the website. Also, is the Griffith in your line part of David Griffith line? His daughter, Mary Priscilla, is my gggrandmother. I only have 1 sister, Amanda, listed. Her mother was Elizabeth Wheeler.

Thank you for the reply, Carolyn, but I am having trouble locating a place named Maulding in Missouri. Usually, the U. S. Geographic Names Information Service is pretty good at locating historical place names, but it too failed to locate Maulding for me. It did point out that there was a Maulding School in Hamilton County, Illinois, taken from a map of the McLeansboro area and dated 1942. There is a C. D. Maulding Airport in Ford Co. IL, and a Maulding Millpond in Hampton Co. SC. Beyond that, the GNIS database had nothing. I thought it was a bit curious that there was a Maulding School in Hamilton Co. - the Griffith family was also known for establishing schools. There seems to be a pattern there.

Anyway, if you would have any additional information where Maulding is, I would appreciate it. Thanks again!

Maulding recognition at Courthouse Centennial
Logan Co., KY, Courthouse Centennial Celebration, 1904-2004

We are celebrating the anniversary of our present courthouse and have done research on the court proceedings from 1792 through present. Of course, the Ewings and Mauldings are of special interest since those two families were leaders in the settlement of our county and in the formation of our first courts.

We had opening ceremonies earlier but are planning the closing ceremonies for the courthouse anniversary during our Tobacco and Heritage Festival. Closing ceremony will be on October 6, 2004, at 4:00 p.m. at the courthouse on West 4th Street, Russellville, KY. We would like to invite any of the family interested in attending to be recognized at this time. It won't be a large formal affair but will be a part of the local street festival and usually a beautiful time in Logan County. If anyone plans to attend, we would like to know about it so they could be recognized then.

Another activity the same weekend in which the Ewings especially would be interested is the 9th annual Primitive Camp Meeting and Rendezvous at Red River Meeting House at Schochoh, KY. This will be held October 8-10 and if interested, you should contact Tom Ruley, 202 Morris Street, Franklin, KY 42134, 270-586-7632 or email at backwoodsministry@hotmail.com or go to website at www.redriverrevival.com

At the revival, there will be Saturday and Sunday morning services at 10:00 a.m., history lessons each day at 2:00 p.m. and church services each night at 7:00 p.m. There will be many demonstrations for the public on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Contact him if you are interested in this.

Judy Lyne, President
Logan Co., KY, Genealogical Society
P.
Family tree

Hi Bobbi, I looked up Brian but he must have been born after 1979 cause that's the last revision of our family tree. my tree goes back to Richard Maulding born 1670 Mauldin is also a relation of this same lineage. The story goes that one of the brothers did not know how to spell and during the civil war both fought when they asked the one brother to spell his name he told them to spell it like it sounds. The brothers lived in Tennessee.... The rest is history.. while in England last summer my wife and I went to North Wales to the town of Maud in searching the name we found that the Maud is a form of fuel similar to peat moss... So I guess our name sake use to dig Maud!! If you have any questions you could e-mail me direct at rotobug@blarg.net talk to you soon..
Thomas Henry Mauldin Sr

I am looking for some of my family history from AK. My grandfathers name was Thomas Henry Mauldin Sr. and was married to Vercie Marie, not sure of her last name, but she died in Mid year 1999. She had I believe 9 boys and 3 daughters. My father was I believe about middle of the boys that were born and was named after my grandfather, His name is Thomas Henry Mauldin Jr. and Married Judy Childers on Febuary 23 or 22 of 1966 or 67 I am not sure which.Dad was married to Alice not sure of maiden name before marrying my mother, and had 2 boys with her Alvin, and Paul, then met my mother who had married and Divorced Vauhn Bud and had my brother David (whom my father adopted lol), then had Me(Doris), Got married had my two younger sisters Diane (1968) and Judith (1970) and My parents presently reside in Missouri near my sister Diane. But there were quite a few boys born. The boys' names were Red, James (baby of the family presently living in Texas), Pete (I think he is deceased he was living in California), Idus (who died in Sept of 2000 along with his wife who died a week later), Ken (presently residing in the state of Texas as well), I dont remember the names of the other uncles in my family but the aunts were Pinky, and Ruth that I can remember. It has been awhile since I have been around my family, but am looking for any information possible to help build the family tree. We have all been told for decades that we come from English and Indian Ancestory would love to see how much of my family history I can trace.

Please Email me at mscnglshrt@aol.com if you have any information that might be relating I would be very thankful of this. Plus if we are related in any manner would love to take the time to get to know more of my "family" lol

Still looking for Missouri Ann's parents. She was born iin 1857 and married John Phillips. The 1860 Census has the name as Maulding not Mauldin. Her father John W. lists his birthplace as SC. For the 1850 Census the only John W Maulding I can find was living with Benjamin and Noami Maulding. Not sure if they were his parents or if Benjamin is his brother. John was born in 1829 SC and married to Gilla Maney (Muney?)

I am president of the Logan County, KY, Genealogical Society and wonder if any on the Maulding line could tell me if Denzil Maulding of Valquez, Alaska, still researches the line. We had a reference book he printed but someone has decided they needed it more than our library did -- hence, we would like to purchase another one if possible. We have a correction pamphlet he sent several years ago but nothing to go with it!

Or - - is there another reference book printed on this family as they were prominent in Logan County's early formation.

Judy Utley Lyne

Richard M. Maulding of White/Hamilton Co. IL, m. Elizabeth Griffith

I'm looking for any additional information on Richard M. Maulding who married Elizabeth Griffith. All I have seen posted so far tells that Richard was born about 1793 in Virginia to Ambrose Maulding and his wife Margaret Crissel, and that he died "after 1860". I have not located him in any census yet, despite the claim that he died after 1860.

I've also found three records that appear to concern Richard on the Illinois State Archives site. The first is a possible enlistment during the War of 1812. The second is his marriage to Elizabeth Griffith in White County on 4 August 1817. The third record is a land purchase in White County dated 1818. It should also be noted that in 1821, White County, Illinois was divided to create Hamilton County, where various members of his family remained.

I am trying to establish the identity of Elizabeth Griffith, his wife. I believe she may have been tied to the family of Jonas Griffith Sr. of Jackson County, Tennessee. Three consecutive entries in the 1820 census of White County list Griffith family members; first is Richard Lock Jr. and his wife Elender Griffith, next is their oldest son Jonas G. Lock born about 1798 in Kentucky, but married in Jackson County, TN before the family moved to Illinois, and then John Griffith, probably the son of Jonas Griffith Sr. and a sister to Elender Lock. It was mentioned in Jackson County, TN court records that Jonas Sr. had a daughter named Betsy (Elizabeth), but no other details were mentioned. It's also possible that Elizabeth may have even been John's daughter.

Of the Lock family, I know that some members spent some time in Arkansas, but seemed to later regroup with other family members in Barry County, Missouri. They were joined there by other descendants of Jonas Griffith. I thought perhaps Richard Maulding and his wife may have joined one of these migrations, but haven't been able to trace them yet. Any information would be appreciated.
