Amanda Maupin: Madison county, Kentucky

I am looking for any information on my great great grandmother, Amanda Maupin who was a mulatto. She was born in apx. 1830 & died in 1916. In the 1870 Yates, Madison county census Amanda & her children resided in the same house as Howard & Elizabeth Maupin & their children who were all white so I'm guessing that Howard Maupin may have been her slaveholder unless she worked in his house as a servant.

I'm not positive of the names of all of her children but my great grandmother Jennie Maupin was one of her children. She also had children by the name of William, Grant and Rebecca/Beckie. I'm not sure about Millie, Dudley & Jane who were listed in the 1870 census.

If anyone has any information on Amanda Maupin and her children such as marriage, birth and death information please let me know. I have not been able to find any information on them (other than Jennie Maupin) before or after 1870.

I am trying to verify if Fendal C Maupin, son of Rice Maupin and Mary Anderson Carr, could be the same person as Calvin F Maupin who married Mary Susan (Dyke) Coleman Montague 1874.Fendal is unaccounted for from the time that Calvin shows up on the censuses. Maybe his full name was Fendal Calvin/Calvin Fendal??? One source on Ancestry.com lists Calvin's death as 1900.Both these men were born 1827-1828 in VA.

Does anyone know if Fendal C MAUPIN is the same person as Calvin F MAUPIN? They were both born in VA 1827-1828. Fendal was the son of Rice Maupin. I have no parentage for Calvin but my reasearch of the census and marriage records leads me to think that Fendal used his middle name. Calvin married Mary Susan Coleman Montague in 1874 in Essex Co VA. they did not have any children but she had 5 by her first marrage to Phillip Montague.

it states that a Vaulta Maupin, was rasied by Joe ANN (shipp) Yager.. and that she was her neice.
At the time of her death she (Vaulta Maupin) was wed to
Charles HAFFCKE.
The town was GLASGOW , in Howard County Missouri
the date was in 1927 ..

Our familly struggles with ALS. My grandmother had 10 brothers & sisters & of the 10 4 maybe 5 passed away from ALS. We are not sure if this runs in the Maupin line (her father's line) or if it comes from her mother's side of the family. It is my understanding that it is also an inherited disorder. It would be interesting to see if there are other Maupins out there that are dealing with this.

This may be a shot in the dark but here goes. My dad, a Maupin, was just diagnosed with Macular Degeneration and was told that it was an inherited disorder. He has had very little contact with the Maupin family and does not know if anyone else has Macular Degeneration.

My question is if this Macular Degeneration runs in the Maupin family? Or should we be looking in another direction? I know there are many lines of the family but maybe someone can tell me if they have it in their line because that can certainly tell a lot.

I'm not home at the moment...but, if you have the time... check the cemeteties in Nampa, if you get a chance. I know the the Maupins lived around Ada Co. and other counties. If you find any Maupins, and you have a camera, will you take a picture of the grave marker and I can research the name. If it's a Maupin, I'm sure it's is a relative. I'm almost sure that Boyd died in Idaho...just not sure which cemtery he is buried in. Thank you and I will be sending some good stuff to you via US mail this coming week!

That would be great. My mother died and was researching this. I think I am the great grandaughter of Sherman and Josephine as well. My grandmother Mildred Myers married Shelby and they had one daughter Kathleen who is my mother. I remember visiting Josephine and a few times someone named Tula who was close to my mother's age. I really don't have much info as he was not involved in my mother's life. I remember a visit to our home in Spencer, IN and being notified of his death. I think he may have moved to Kansas or Michigan??

I had researched the Boyd Maupin line and have created a whole binder on as much that I could research on him....then I proceeded on researching his desendents. I emailed anyone from his line and others from our whole Maupin line. Boyd seems to have ended up a mystery. I live in Lane County, OR where Boyd, Thomas L.,Anna and the rest of the family homesteaded. In fact, I live right down the road from their original homestead, which makes me very sentimental. I, also, have the Maupin Book written by Dorothy Shaffett. My part of the family is on page 344 under John Maupin & Mary Maupin-Maupin (Mary was a Maupin who married a Maupin in the same line). My parents are Robert M. Shaw & Goldie Hannum on page 344. It helps living in Oregon for researching because some of the original records are here locally. Oh, there was a book written by Lois Barton called the Spencer Butte Pioneers. I have a copy and there is a section written about Boyd. He was one of the Spencer Butte Pioneers who purchased part of the mountain after he sold the original homestead. Boyd was the brother to my 3rd great-grandfather, Jacob Maupin, who did not go on the Oregon journey. I have tried looking for what ever happened to Boyd for years. I have tried to find out where our mutual 4th great-grandfather is buried in St. Louis, MO., also. I'm not sure anyone knows. It's so sad that he isn't buried with Anna. The Frances Marion Armstrong, I am related to was born: 22 June 1882 in Comanche County, Texas. Died: 11 Jan 1946 in El Centro, California. Married Mattie Maupin and they were married until he died. Neither one was married more than once.
There is another Frances Marion born around 1858 in Alabama and lived over 100 years old. Died in 1964 (I honestly don't know death date, but this is what I have) in Miami, Arizona. He married Clarrisa Styron.
Let me know if you are related to one of these, Armstrong's and I do have more information if you are.
