William Lewis Maury was born at the "Old Manion" near Bowling Green Va in 1813. (Near to the place where Booth the "asasin of president Lincoln was eventually discovered and killed.)
The Maury family owned this old plantation for many years before these events and at least on of his young children was sent into NC during the Civil war. Her name was Jane Elizbeth Maury.
She eventually married my 2nd great grandfather, George Gilbert Richmond on the 10th of October 1867.
"Woodside Mansion" is the Richmond homeplace in Caswell County, NC and obviously was a haven during the war for a number of notable confederate soldiiers, including CSA Gen. Stephan Dodson Ramseur and Maury's from VA.
I would much like to correspond with decendents of Wlliam Grymes Maury from the Old Plamtation there in VA.
