Katharina Elisabeth Maus from Gemany, emigrating 1865 to America

I learned of Katharina Elisabeth Maus, born about 1849, last town of residence was Goßmannsrode, Hesse, Germany. She emigrated alone to America.

I'm not related (as far as I know) to the Maus-Family but I saw this information while checking emigration-records of Goßmannsrode and I hope it might help somebody.

Interested in ancestry of Jake Maus & wife Onezima of Reserve, Louisana

in Reserve, Louisana
Jake died as a young man - before 1940.

Onezime died in 1985 & is buried in Reserve, She was very active in the Catholic Church there.

Jake & Ozima has a son Shirley Joseph, botn in Reserve & died in California.

Can anyone help me with:
1) Jake's vital statistics & ancestry,
and
2) Onezima maiden name & ancestry
Any help will be appreciated.

I am Daniel Maus(New Prague, Colorado, and now Florida),
son of Donald Maus(New Prague, Denver),
son of Sylvester A. Maus (New Prague, Belle Plaine, Union Hill),
son of Albert M. Maus (New Prague?, Jordan?),
to whom I believe you refer.

My great grandpa Albert was a Minnesota State Boiler Inspector.

In his later years my aunt Jo was by his side.

I also know of Frank Maus as he was mentioned at to me at times by my grandma, Helen S. Maus.

My Susan Peel was born Susan Moss in Altoona or Cambria PA. Her parents were Sylvester Maus (changed to Moss) and Rebecca Wingard. Susan had a sister my Great Grandmother Minnie Moss who married a Murray and died in Cleveland Ohio.

Hi,

I'm currently researching a bit of the same line you are. Susan J. Peel (born 1884 from what I can tell) was a half sister to my grandfather Carl F. Peel. They had the same father, John.

I don't have any more information on Susan that you do, but promise to share if I come across anything. I'm really stuck on her father, my, and I assume, your great grandfather. The geneologies have him as descending from Henry E. Peel in Indiana. But this Henry E. Peel was from North Carolina originally, born there and his line goes back to Lawrence Peel settling in Viriginia in 1621. His maternal line can be traced all the way back to about 950 and the line of Picot de Saye, a Norman who was given land in Shropshire for supporting William the Conqueror in his invasion of England (and giving Norman soil to the church). But I don't think this is our line because on every one of the census records that John father of Suan filled out it says his parents were born in Ireland (later designated as Northern Ireland). He's first generation American where as Henry is already upteen generation at that point.

Confusing matters is what appears to be great popularity among John Peels of Livingston County, New York in the 1800s marrying women named Mary. (God I wish the censuses gave maiden names and places of birth).

Anyway, if I find anything about Susan J., I'll let you know. Any light you can shed on the Peels of Livonia, would be appreciated.

My ggrandfather was Henry Moss. Rumor has it that his family came over from Germany. This is all I know. Wondered if this is the same family you are looking for. Henry later moved to MS, LA, and TX and had children by two-three wives. Charles, Burton, Eddie Lee, Luther, Neil, Richard (Dick), Harry, and Minnie.

I am transcribing the Evergreen Cemetary in Ontario, Malheur Co., Oregon and thought I would post pictures of the Pre-1900 headstones for those interested in having them. This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

I DO NOT HAVE A LOT OF INFO ON THE MAUS FAMILY. MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER WAS MINNIE MOSS WHOSE MOTHER WAS REBECCA AND SYLVESTOR MOSS OF PA. SYLVESTOR'S FATHER WAS FREDRICK MAUS AND I DO HAVE A PHOTO OF FREDRICK'S GRAVE. THEY ALSO CHANGED THEIR NAME FROM MAUS TO MOSS. I AM LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON AMERICAN INDIAN ON THE MOSS OR WINGARD SIDE. MAYBE BLACKFOOT.
