Still Looking for James R W Mauzy - Help someone??

I'm still searching for James R W Mauzy who was born circa 1823 in Preble Co., OH.
What I know -
James is shown enlisting in the army in Campbell Co., OH in 1847. It shows he was a tinner and born in Preble.
In 1849 he applied for pension in Missouri in which he was approved. In 1850 he shows up in Baltimore, MD (where his pension was also transferred too). Although he is shown married with four children, that wasn't the case. In 1860 he is shown in Gallia Co., Oh. In 1862 he married Ann Henrietta Bunch (who he had been living with in MD in 1850).
He then disappears. Henrietta shows up back in MD in 1870 by herself.
They couldn't have married since Henrietta was still married to her first husband (Henrietta didn't file for divorce until 1864. Henrietta's death certificate and also her tombstone gave her last name as Bunch) - Anyway - still trying to find who his parents were and where he died. In some deeds I have and also his army records, he went by James R W Mauzy. Any help would be much appreciated.

I only have the Mauzy family back to (1) Henry Mauzy. He married a daughter of Dr. Conyer in England. (2) His second son, John married Hester Foote and they had the following children; Henry 1721, John 1723, William 1725, Priscilla 1727, Peter 1730, Elizabeth 1734 & Jemima 1740. (3) Henry, eldest son of John was married twice. His first wife was Ann Withers and they had 9 children; John, Peter, William, Henry, Elizabeth, Nancy, (4)Priscilla, Hester & unknown name. (4) Priscilla married George Rosser.

Eugenia Mauzy was third wife to James Henry Burton. James Henry 2nd great grandfather. I am seeking additional information on James Henry. I have B:1823 D: 1894. He was the Armorer to three nations during the civil war. I have much information that is provided on the internet. I am looking for who his parents were. I am also trying to find a connection between James Henry Burton and Charles Burton. Charles Burton was the one who invented the 3 wheeled baby carriage in New York in 1848 (yes, I know William Kent first invented the carriage in 1733 designed to be pulled by hounds).

Hi Donna!

I am not descended from Fayette but I am his first cousin five times removed. His grandfather, Henry Mauzy, was my 5th great-grandfather. The Mauzys are of Huguenot descent and I'm finding cousins all over the place through that line.

I have a copy of a book that was written by my third great-grandfather, Richard Mauzy, who was the son of Col. Joseph Mauzy, who was the son of Henry (my common ancestor with Fayette). There are a couple of pages missing (42-43, I believe; I am working on getting copies), but I have entered just about everyone I could back to that point, and have quite a few of them in my Family Tree Maker - would be happy to share with anyone who has questions. My 5 X great grandmother Nancy Mauzy had a sister named Priscilla Mauzy. Nancy was the daughter of Henry Mauzy and Ann Withers. I think the Connyers you are talking about is his grandmother or even further back.

John W. Mauzy and Hanna (Harrison) had a dau Martha Jane "Mattie" Mauzy born Jul 5, 1850 and died October 25, 1928 in Henderson County, Kentucky.

Martha J. "Mattie" Mauzy married Latimus Armstead Daniel on February 23, 1881.

Anyone familiar with this particular line?

[ Dr Lewis Mauzy (born Aunis Province, France circa 1670-75; died Exeter, England, 1727) was the maternal grandfather of Colonel Richard Hutchinson Long (1740-1814), of Longfield House, Ardmayle, Cashel, Tipperary, Ireland. Richard Hutchinson Long was the younger son of Edward Long (d 1773), of Lacken House, Ardfinnan & of Caher Abbey, Caher, Tipperary, & of the City of Cork, by his wife, Elizabeth Mauzy (d 1799), daughter of Dr Lewis Mauzy, by his wife, Anne Hutchinson (d post 1757), daughter of Edward Hutchinson (1632-1699), of Knocklofty, Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland ]

I Lewis Mauzy of the City of Exeter M.B. do make my last Will and Testament as followeth Imprimis my Soul into the hands of God Almighty hopeing to find Mercy from him by the mediation of my blessed hundred pounds settled for maintenance of younger Children as aforesaid) make up the sume of three hundred and fifty pounds that is one hundred pounds out of my personal Estate and no more and I do appoint my Brother in Law Andrew Majendie Minister of one of the French Congregations in Exeter and my brother in Law Mr. Richard Hutchinson of Knocklofty in the County of Tipperary in Ireland and my Brother in Law Mr. James Massiott Merchant in Cork Trustees for my said two daughters to lay out the said severall Sumes of four hundred pounds and Three hundred and fifty and to reserve the Interest fifteen hundred pounds Settled as her jointure shall come to my son Lewis that then my son Lewis shall then be oblidged and not before to pay unto my daughter Elizabeth one hundred pounds and one hundred and fifty pounds to my daughter Mary or to the already mentioned Trustees for their respective uses and I do hereby appoint Mr. Andrew Majendie Mr. Richard Hutchinson and Mr. James Massiott Executors of this my last Will and Testament to whom I give all the rest and residue of my Goods and Chattells in Trust nevertheless to and for the sole use and behoofe of my son Lewis Mauzy till he attain the age of twenty three desiring the said Trustees to Act towards my said son as they shall think convenient and to bring him up to some Trade or profession as they shall judge proper and he shall like and I do further desire and it is my Will that my said Trustees take care of all my Son’s fortune and not pay him the Bulk of such his fortune till he attain the age of three and twenty unless they shall think it proper for his my sons advancement and in case my said son should happen to dye before he attain the age of twenty three then in Trust for my two said daughters ~~ Elizabeth and Mary equally to be divided between ‘em as they or either of them shall attain the age of Twenty one or shall be Marryed respectively and if either of my daughters should dye before their respective Marriages or before they attain the age of one and twenty it is my Will that the fortune of the deceased daughter shall be divided equally between my son Lewis and the Surviving Daughter or if my two daughters shall dye before Marriage or the age of 21, then their respective fortunes to come to my son Lewis and if my son and two daughters should all dye without Issue by them lawfully begotten it is my will that that part of the £2000 Settled by my Marriage Settlement for the use of my wife and Children Whereby it is provided that in case our Issue did dye one Thousand pounds or so much out of the Lands (if any were purchased) or out of that £2000 should revert to my heires Executors or Administrators it is my will that if such a case did happen my Sister Elizabeth Mauzy now in France shall have one hundred pounds paid her if she should then be living out of the said £1000, or Lands purchased by it and that my Sister Magdalen Massiott wife of Mr. James Massiott of Cork Merchant should have also one hundred pounds paid her if she should then be alive and the whole remaining part of the said £1000, or Lands purchased by it I give to the Children of my Sister Susanna Majendie then living to be divided between them share and share alike but it is my will that her younger son Andrew Majendie shall have one hundred pounds above the rest of her Children I give to my Wife her Gold Watch but it is my will that if it happens that my Wife and family after my decease did remove out of this kingdom to Ireland that the Trust reposed in my Brother in Law Mr. Andrew Majendie to cease and be as if he had not been mentioned and then the sole Trust to be in my two Brothers in law Mr. Richard Hutchinson and Mr. James Massiott and I do hereby revoke all former Wills We know now that there are at least 2 Henry Clay Mauzy/Mauzeys. I am searching for ancestors of T.C.Mauzy who was the husband of Ann M. Mauzy of Princeton, Gibson Co., IN. They were married in 1852 at an unknown location. They had seven children, five were surviving at the time of Ann's death in 1911. These were: Charles, James, Amanda Belle, aka Belle & Helen Kirkwood all of Indiana & John of Denver, Colorado.T.C. predeceased Ann sometime between 1866 & 1880. His wife Ann, a widow with family, was listed in the 1880 census living in Princeton, IN. He was possibly born in W.VA or VA. abt 1815-1830. Ann's parents were Asa & Delight Mills. She had a sister named Amanda Mills Milburn, age 89 in 1911.Ann, born in 1825, was 87yrs at time of death.

I keep seeing Hester CONYER posted but I keep finding data that says she was Hester FOOTE with father of Col John Mauzy with grandmother of Elizabeth CONYER d/o Dr. Conyer. They settled in Smoky Hollow that is in West Virginia there is a Mauzy graveyard there/ Dsitrict 24 Hampshire Co., VA in 1850/ My granddad Harmon Oates and his son william henry Oates married sister Mary Mauzy and Sara. They came from the same family according to them from loudon co., VA// Do you have them in your records? I also ahve a blank on that last daughter/ My Peter Mauzey was born Nov 6 1791 and died Jan 20 1959 was married to Susannah Powell and they too came from loudon co., VA// They call the area Mill Valley where tey resided.

I found Hnery listed as a Maury on the 1880 cenus with his wife Rowena and mother Louisa. Henry is found as early as 1860 age 13 living alone in Logan CO Ky.In the 1860 Ky Census there are 8 Mauzy families living in the area. He must belong to one of these families.In MClean CO in 1860 there was James W age 42, John age 35 and Shelton age 45.And in Muhlenberg I found a H age 22, Lafayette age 24 and Matilda age 18 and PH age 15.

Ann, According to what I found on the census records, Henry Clay Mauzy was born on March 1847 and died about 1887. He is buried in the Mt Mariah Cemetery in Myers, Muhlenberg.He war married to Roena Henderson. After Henry died Roena marred Rufus Latham.I was never able to connect Henry with a set of parents other than a widowed mother named Louise.

I have a HENRY CLAY MAUZEY in my records. He is my great-grandfather, born 1 Nov 1838 in IN or KY. I have been searching for his parents, siblings, etc. The "H (Henry?) age 22" found in Muhlenberg in 1860 is the exact age for him. In the 1850 Logan Co. census there is a Henry age 13 with a brother Lafayette age 15. Do you have any more info on him? H.C. Mauzey married Amanda Elizabeth Crow in 1874 in AR. They had 9 children. The youngest, Merritt Thomas Mauzey, was a well known artist/author. The family moved to Nolan Co., TX where Henry Clay Mauzey died in 1917.

I would very much like to learn the names of the parents, siblings & grandparents of my Huguenot ancestor, my GGGGGG-Gdfather, Dr Lewis Mauzy (b ca 1670-80; d ante 1750). I don't know where he was born - France, England or Ireland. He probably died in Exeter, England, since a 1759 deed (Irish Registry of Deeds) refers to "Lewis Mauzy, Esquire, Doctor in Physick, late of the City of Exeter deceased."
In 1699, Lewis Mauzee earned his degree in medicine from Trinity College, Dublin. Circa 1705-10, he married Anne Hutchinson (living 1759), daughter of Edward Hutchinson (1632-99), of Knocklofty, Clonmel, Tipperary, by his wife, Anne Batty.
Lewis & Anne Mauzee [or Mauzy] had five known children:
1. Lewis Mauzy II (b ca 1705-20; d 1779, Dublin), of Dublin & of Clonmel, Tipperary; died unmarried
2. Elizabeth Mauzy (b ca 1710-15; d 1799, Clonmel, Tipperary); married Edward Long (d 1773, City of Cork), of Lacken House, Ardfinnan, & of Cahir Abbey, both in Tipperary. Elizabeth & Edward Long were the parents of my GGGG-Gdfather, Colonel Richard Hutchinson Long (1740-1814), of Longfield House, Cashel, Tipperary.
3. Anne Mauzy, christened 1711, Barnstaple, Devon, England
4. Jane Mauzy, ch 1712, Barnstaple, Devon, England
5. Mary Mauzy, ch 1718, Barnstaple, Devon, England
One of the daughters - either Anne, Jane or Mary, married John Bryan of the City of Waterford, Ireland.
Of interest, my 7th Gt-Gdfather (& ancestor of the earls of Donoughmore), the above mentioned Edward Hutchinson (1632-1699), of Knocklofty, Tipperary, was a first cousin to Edward Hutchinson (1613-75), of Boston & of Newport, Rhode Island, Ancestor of Presidents George Bush I & II, of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, & most likely, of Marilyn Monroe too.
I would be most appreciative of any information or assistance anyone out there in GenealogyLand might be able to offer.

Nancy married Mr. Goodman. On 1 Aug 1869, Mrs.
Nancy Goodman, widowed, age 61, born KY) was
admitted to the Livingston Co., Missouri, Poor
Farm. She was discharged on 6 Sep 1871.

I have no further info on her but do have more
on her parents and siblings. Will gladly exchange.

I published MOORESVILLE HISTORY in Sept 1999 which includes several pages on the Goben family.
William Goben was the first permanent white settler in what became Mooresville Township, Livingston
Co., Missouri. He died in 1847.

I'm particularly interested in William Goben's daughter, Nancy, who married (1) Willaim Mauzey.
She later married Mr. Evens and then Mr. Goodman.

Winchester VA Dec 3, 1903

Mrs Gettie Mauzy daughter of Alexander Mauzy died at her home near Whitacre early Tuesday morning of paralysis, she was 19 years of age and had been afflicted through life with epilepsy. The funeral was held at the home of the deceased on Wed. afternoon a 2:30 O'Clock and interment was made in the buckwalter Graveyard.

I have no other info on this person, I just have an old newspaper and wanted to share it's contents.
