Poplar Bluff, Mo., January 1. – At Barfield, a small town near here, yesterday, Adolph Mavis shot and killed Mrs. J. A. Paine and then, turning the revolver on himself, fired a bullet into his head, dying instantly. Before Mrs. Paine’s marriage she and Mavis were sweethearts.
