I need a little help, my husband's grandmother was Plura "Prarie Flower" Skaggs b. 19 Nov 1897 in Mazie, Lawrence Co. Ky (info from daughter) d. 25 Aug 1984 in Beaver, Pike Co., Ohio. She married #1 Isaac Henry Eldridge b. 5 Mar 1893 in Morgan Town, Ky. d. 25 Mar 1927 in Oh. from a logging accident. M #2 Robert Adkins b. 8 Jul 1900 d. 6 Aug 1971 I have found info on Isaac's family but have not been able to sort through the many, many Skaggs families in Lawrence Co. Ky. Plura was the only one to move to Scioto Co. Oh. with Isaac's family. I have the names of her siblings and who they married. I have found some info on the Family Search website but cannot find out who their parents are.

Since I don't have complete access to Ancestry's census records it's hard to sort out who they were. Thanks for anything you find. Brenda

The reason you could not find them was because Plura's name was not Skaggs, but Maxie.

The 1900 census shows your Plura was the stepdaughter of ?? Skaggs (1900 census sheet 6A unreadable) and Rinda. Plura's surname is Maxie (sheet 6B). There is a sister-in-law living with the Skaggs, Lillie Maxie, b: Feb 1884, which would make her Rinda's first husband's sister. Rinda was born Sep 1878.

You list Plura's birth place as Mazie, Lawrence Co, Ky. I would suggest you might want to look where you got those data and check if it really wasn't her last name Maxie.

There are 20 male MAXIEs b: 1877-1879 in Ky, none in Lawrence Co. However, on the same 1930 census page is a Maxie family that MIGHT be related.

Too bad there is not an 1890 census. 20 years is too much of a gap.

Here is an obit for a Rinda Maxie, obviously not yours, but look at the cemetery name. You might find Plura's father (and husband) buried there. The funeral home may also have a record of Plura's father, if he was associated with the ELDRIDGEs.
