I AM LOOKING FOR ANY INFORMATION ON THE MAXIE FAMILY. MY DAD WAS JAMES A (GARFIELD) MAXIE. HIS FAMILY ORIGINATED OUT OF SNEEDSVILLE, TENN. LATER HE SETTELED IN KNOTT COUNTY, KENTUCKY. HIS DAD'S NAME WAS BILL MAXIE AND HIS MOM'S NAME WAS RHODA VANOVER.

Trying to find for sure Where William Riley Maxey was born , and locate his parents. Born abt. 1837 Tn? Died 1908 Elliott Co. Ky. Married Sarah Eldridge 3/15/1869 Morgan Co. Ky. We are descended from his son John James Maxie.

Updating my earlier posting on Plura Maxie or Skaggs. Plura's mother was Milla Marinda "Rinda" Maxie b. Sep 1878 in Ky. d. unknown she was not married when Plura was born on 19 Nov 1897 in Mazie, Lawrence Co. Ky. Rinda's parents were William Isaac "Billie" Maxie and Sarah Eldridge b. 20 Mar 1845 in Morgan County, KY d. 16 Dec 1927 in Lawrence County, KY. Rinda later married Harrison H. Skaggs and Plura later took his last name. I would like to know who Plura's father was or if there were stories about who he might be. Thank you.

Born: 1844 Place: Maesteg, Wales

Children

1. Edith Mary Morris
Born: 17 Sep 1878 Place: Abadaire, Wales Died: 31 Mar 1958

2. John Morris
Born: 1867 Place: Aberdare, Wales

3. Margretta Morris Born: 1874 Place: Aberdare, Wales

They are found in the 1881 Census living Aberdare where William Morris was an inn keeper. According to family tradition, they emigrated to the US in 1883, ending up in Pennsylvania and then Arkansas.

I was trying to do some research on my ancestory. I am 23 and live in Indiana and my grandfather Robert James Maxie moved here from the south. He passed away maybe 10 years ago and still have family in the MI area and in the south. He was half indian, half black. If you know of anyone related, please contact me.

I was born in Browood, Ga. on February 19, 1976. My deceased father name was Theo Maxie and his father name was Sir Johnny Maxie. He was enlisted in the Air Force for a period of time in the late 1800's early 1900's. My father married my mother, Martha Hand of Browood, Ga. The majority of the Maxie's I know are in the Newark, NJ area. I would like to make the connection. Any response is better than no response.
