If your name is Sue, it's a given that you're a trouble maker BUT totally unintentionally. It's like "Sues" just attract trouble out of the blue. lol

You'll like her. She's a nut.

Actually the bossy gene missed Sue and somehow I inherited it so WE can boss her around! ;o)

By the way, the reason I call her grandma isn't because of her age, it's after the "grandma" character at the Big Apple Circus who wanders around causing trouble between the acts. lol

Dad's 2nd marriage was like any other - ups and downs. He travelled a lot so wasn't home much. Mom mostly took care of us kids by herself. Now I'm returning the favor.

We're all 40ish. Sue is 50ish. I call her grandma. lol

You might be right there. My daughter Hazel is 46 and I am 63 which is closer to your ages. lol. I think Hazel is. Jim, John and I were all born in the mid 40s.
I do remember some good stuff about dad but some bad stuff also. My moms marriage to him was chaotic. Neither one was ready to settle and raise kids. But they were going to do their patriotic duty even if it ruined their happyness. I am glad he finally did find a good woman and enjoyed his second family a lot.

Im the oldest daughter. I think the 3 of you are closer to my daughters age. My name is just Sue. So im guessin that he just liked the sound of the name. Or maybe our mothers had something to do with it. (What a coincedence if so)i do like the name of Susanne better then just Sue. It just sounds better.
I just know it wasn't ME! lol

Linda - are you the oldest kid? Sue (Susanne) is the oldest kid. If dad had a third family, would he name the oldest kid Sue? Who is Sue and why are you named after her? Dad's mom was Ethel (also Sue's middle name - she hates that, but we remind her of it at every opportunity). I wonder if Sue was just a random name that dad decided he liked.

I noticed that you mention a Rufus Maxon from Washington County, Ohio in your posting. I also have a Rufus Maxon in my family, born 1841 in Monroe County, Illinois. His parents, E.W. Maxon and Lucretia Haynes, were both from Washington County, Ohio but moved to Illinois in 1840. Later on Rufus lived in Kansas but died in Arkansas in 1899, apparently on a trip (or visit?) I’d bet that our Rufus Maxon’s are related.

W.K. Seely

Maria Van Dusen and Calvin S Maxon were married on the 8 Feb 1836 at Geddess, Onondaga County, New York by Rev Thomas Sammons. Are there Marriages records that would show the parents of this couple ?

In the 1850 Federal census they are living next door to a John Van Dusen and his wife Alpherris P. in Geddess, Onondaga County, New York. Both men are listed as Boatmen. Maria and John could be siblings.

After the civil war they moved to Jackson County Missouri where they lived out the rest of there lives.

In the 1870 Federal Census there is a 12 year old Robert Van Dusen living with them and is still there in 1880 where he is listed as a carpenter

Any information on the Parents or family would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks
Richard Reams

It wasn't a raid that took place there, but the William Maxson farm is where John Brown trained his trrops for the raid on Harper's Ferry. Daughters of the American Revolution placed a marker there in the 1920's (I'm a member of that group.) I believe they are buried in West Liberty, IA.

The Maxson home was also a stop on the Underground Railroad.

Katherine MAXWELL (MAXON?) NICHOLS of Crawford Co., PA

I am trying to find the parents of Katherine MAXWELL or MAXON NICHOLS, widow of the Samuel NICHOLS who died in Crawford Co., PA, in 1847. One source gives her maiden name as MAXWELL. Another, MAXON.
I am also trying to identify the second (2) husband of Katherine (MAXWELL / MAXON) NICHOLS AMA (EIGHMEY?).
In the 1850 census of Spring township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, William H. Nichols, age 19, Samuel N. (Simon?) Nichols, age 14, and J. W. Nichols, age 9, natives of Pennsylvania, were enumerated with Catharine Ama, age 50, native of New York. Catharine's age certainly agrees with the age category of the woman in the 1840 census. The surname Ama may have been the surname of her second husband.
Who was her second husband? What happened to him and Katherine? She disappears from the census after 1850.

Seaching for MARGARET MAXON b about 1861 married William Peter Farmer in 1893 in Paducah, Ky. She is the niece of Morse Intrepid Maxon who owned a lumber mill in Paducah. She is my great grandmother and we have NO information about her family except that she was Morse's niece. Does anyone have her in your data base or could you send me to a web site to search?

Mary Maxon, Washington County, Ohio

I am looking for information on Mary Maxon, born in Washington County, Ohio, about 1844 - 1850. She married Theodore Gevrez, also of Washington County, Ohio, and they had 3 children: William Theodore (my husband's great-grandfather), Russell M., and Gussie. Mary Maxon Gevrez purchased land in Pulaski County, Arkansas, in 1896, and her daughter Gussie married J.P. Deere in the same county around the same time. The only other record I have for Mary Maxon Gevrez is that she married John A. Stallings in Conway, Faulkner County (next to Pulaski County), Arkansas in 1900. I am trying to discover what prompted Mary's move from Ohio to Arkansas in the 1890s. I am assuming that Theodore died and then what? I cannot find any death or burial information on Theodore. Mary is the daughter of Rufus and Augustina Maxon.

Hi, I am in the middle of South Dakota. It just happens that my grandmother, Harriet Adams Stiles' mother is Elvina Kemol Keislar. Elvina's sister, Hannah, married William Maxson in Iowa. I am trying to find out where and if they are buried in W. Liberty, Muscatine, Iowa. I know William died there in 1877 but looks like Hannah died in California in 1918.
This place you are talking about is Wiliam Maxson place where a raid took place. We are trying to find the whole article or articles about that. I am also interested in trying to get a picture of it. I understand there is a marker, right. Maybe a picture of the marker? I would also be interested in the three children buried there. It could be the last three children of Maxson's from his first wife, Elza, Louise, and Williard. Would have to do some checking on those deaths. They were born in Mauscatine Co., Iowa between 1839 and 1845. (Particulars, if you want.)
I don't know how much info you are looking for on this family, but i have extensive on Keislar and back into my other families. Thanks, Joan- my email is dljjkb@gwtc.net

I am trying to find out information on my grandfathers sister Frances Ida O'Gara, she married (Dr ??) Randolph Maxon during world war II and emigrated to Ohio. I know that she died in childbirth but i am unsure if the child survived. I am pretty sure though not positive i have found the correct randolph as the only records i have been able to find match the date and location.

Frances was born 1925 in Birmingham, England and died on 17th may 1941. The death was registered in Columbus Ohio.

The Randolph i have located (and the only one i am able to find anywhere) was born on 5th Feb 1915 and Died 20th April 1972. The Death was registered in Illinois but he was burried in Forest Hill Cemetery Ohio. Which leads me to believe I have the correct person.
