Surnames: MAXWELL, WALLACE, COOK, WALTERS, HARTMAN
I have been researching my great-great-great-great-great grandfather Adam Maxwell who settled in Armstrong County in about 1794. He made 2nd Leiutenant in the Revolutionary War; was married to Elisabeth Wallace. Sons: William, Adam, James, David and John. Daughters: Elisabeth, Sarah m. Benjamin White, Jane m. George Cook, and Margaret Maxwell m. William White.
When Adam died in 1937, his son William was living in Ohio; sons James, David and John, and daughters Elisabeth and Jane still lived in Armstrong County, Pa.; daughter Sarah was living in Coshocton County, Ohio. His son Adam and daughter Margaret both died before he did. Margaret's children Mahston White, Adam White and Elisabeth White took her place in the estate proceedings.
Adam left behind a sizable estate — a farm with livestock and lots of tools, equipment and personal stuff, and lots of rural acreage.
Does anyone have Adam or any of his descendants in their family tree? I'd love to trade information. Adam was an interesting early Armstrong Co., Pa., pioneer.
