Surnames: MAXWELL
So nice to connect with another "cousin." The birthdate of James comes from baptismal records in Tinkling Springs Church, Old Craig Parish, Augusta County, Virginia, listed as 15 Aug 1745. Have seen mention of the records you mentioned of Thomas (GA) and William, but have not accessed them. Have you seen the stories about John and son James from Virginia records posted by Dondon Baker on World Connect? Good first-hand story about James, also known as Great White Chief Maxwell in Tazewell County, Virginia. But also some information there about John's military career that I cannot confirm.
