Not sure if ours is the same Mayer line. I am trying to find the Mayer side of the family. Our Schwab side is researched well. Anna Mary Mayer was born on December 2, 1869. Frederick Schwab married Anna Mary Mayer on October 10, 1893 in Mt. Angel, Oregon. According to our Schwab family book she was born in Wurttemburg, Germany, however I scanned for her name and found an American census that states she was born in Wisconsin. Her parents were born in Germany.
If any of this matches anything you have found, please let me know.
thankyou

I only know the ship my grandmother and her family came on Her mother was a Mayer (Walburga) daughter of Anton and his second wife, Walburga Engelhard. They came to US in 1891 on the "Bursia". Family 'legend' says that some of Anton Mayers children from the first spouse came much earlier but we don't know any names for sure...possibly Lewis and Karin. (their names are mentioned in old family letters but connection is vague) Two brothers and one sister of my GG Walburga (from Anton's second wife) settled in Louiseville, KY--J.A.changed his spelling to MYERS. Sister Matilda married a Stiglitz. Another brother also lived there-Isador, who stayed with the MAYER spelling. Sister Johanna married a Hoffman and lived in Chicago area. Not much help but we have to keep trying, right? Good luck. Wilma

Do you know parentage of Joseph Frank? We have Anton Mayer from District Schwaben, Black Forest Regopm.Bavaria, born 1797. He was married twice and had 12 kids with one wife, 13 with the second. I'm decended from the second wife but we have very few names for any siblings from either spouse. Nor do we know the first spouse's name. Second spouse would be too young to be mother of your Joseph. Anything sound plausible?

Mayer

Creal Spring, Ill. March 26, 1925

Some genealogical information that might be of interest to my children and grandchildren, after we older ones have passed. I will give the facts as they have come to me from the generation that have passed on before. My Grandfather, John Mayer, was born in Germany in the latter part of 17th Century, date not know to me. We came to America in the year 1818. His family consisted of three sons and one daughter. He as a weaver by trade. His three sons were, (commencing with the oldest,) William, Jacob, and George. The daughter's name was Roxana, I think. After landing in New York he migrated into Ohio, passing through West Tenn, where he apprenticed the two younger boys Jacob and Geo. Jacob to a man named Jas. Cowen who was in the mercantile business. Geo. to the Silversmith trade. Geo. afterwards went to Mississippi, Holly Springs, where he was when the Civil war broke, perhaps. William, the eldest boy went to Ohio with his father. Jacob Mayer, my father, was born in Germany in the yr. 1808. He was 10yr old when he came to America, that being the yr my Mother was born near Knoxville, Tenn. Nov. 15, 1818. My father, Jacob Mayer, served the years of his apprenticeship and remained with Cowen until he was married to my Mother, Mary Ann Frazier who had moved with her parents, into Henry Co. near Paris, West Tenn. The were married Nov. 23rd 1837 and settled in the wilds of western Ky. Caloway Co. To this marriage was born 4 boys and 5 girls. The boys, in the order of their age, are Julian, John, James and Thomas. The Girls, Melvinia, Sarah, Elza, Alice and Drucilla. One bro. John, and all the girls but one, the youngest have passed on before. At the time of this writing three of us Julian age 84, James 78, and the writer Thomas, 72 are living. Also Drucilla the youngest girl, age 67. I have now brought the record down to where they can be obtained from your own family records.

The writer of this record, Thomas J. Mayer was born in Caloway Co. Ky, May 20, 1852, was converted in 1871, came to Illinois in Jan, 1872, was married to Priscilla Willeford Nov. 7, 1875. United with the Baptist Church of Cana Wn'si Co. in 1877. To this marriage of the writer and wife were born 11 children; 5 of whom died in their infancy; six are living at this writing; four boys and two girls. The boys in the order of their age are; Hosea, Jacob, Harley and John; the girls, Mattie and Ruby.

My wife was converted and united with the same church as the writer. WE shall soon have lived together 50 yrs. I feel that I have not many days to stay here. My health is all gone. My hope is in the Christ of Calvary. I am so glad I remembered my Creator in the days of my youth. This is now July 27, 1926. I am not to stay here much longer without some change takes place very soon. We have journeyed on life's pathway a half century last Nov. 7th. Hope our separation will not be long.

Oh Father! save us all in glory thru the blood of the Everlasting Covenant. the 'everlasting covenant.
When I shall have passed, if it suit the rest of you that are left behind,

Correction: William was the youngest son and went to Ohio with his father and Roxana. They had a ferry boat.

My Pittsburgh Myers/Mayer/Lewis riverboat family has been in Pittsburgh before the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1803.

Part of the family was at Jerome Bonaparte's wedding to Elizabeth Patterson in Baltimore. Jerome was Napoleon's brother. Since one group seems to have been a body guard to Prince Edward and another group were body guards to Napoleon through General Lafayette, I wonder if we have a connection.

 Hi Ruth
Mine emmigrated 1852. It's a long shot I know but I'm getting frustrated.. There were so many Mayers emmigrated, 1700' & 1800's.. somewhere their related. And I'll send you mine
we can compare to see if we recognize anyone.. I only can pick out my ggrandmother, yet the rest look alike.. I just taught myself how to scan...being computor illiterate how do we do this??? everything is trial and error for me.. I'm getting quite good at this.
margaret
Re: MAYER-CUYAHOGA CO.-OHIO

I have a Moritz Mayer who was married in Cuyahoga, Ohio to Maria (Sophia) Hammel in 1860. Moritz is buried in Manchester, Iowa so probably didn't live in Ohio his whole life. His children that I know about were: Kate, George, Mary and Sarah. He came to America in 1853. Does anyone know of this family?
