ANGLETON, Texas -- Thomas Edward 'Lee' Mayfield, 52, Angleton, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at a hospital in Angleton.

Services are pending at Palms Funeral Home, Angleton.

Mr. Mayfield was born on Oct. 3, 1950, the son of Charles Gilbert 'Gib' and Barbra Heins Mayfield. He married Lois Farnum in May 1978.

He enjoyed fishing, playing Santa, woodwork and watching his nephews race when he was visiting.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Curt and her husband, Arthur, and Sharon Benge and her husband, Alvin, all of Angleton; a son, Thomas Mayfield of Angleton; a brother, Mike Mayfield and his wife, Cindy, of Prophetstown, Ill.; two sisters, Jennifer 'Penny' Myers of Davenport and Jeannie Staley and her husband, Dennis, of Muscatine; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles 'John' Mayfield and Mark in infancy.

I would say that they are one in the same. My gandfather's and father's name was Wilmer. I have not been doing alot here lately with my family tree. I really need to get back into it.

JOHN MARSHALL ANDERSON and his large family left Burr Oak, Mo. about 1881 going to Texas. Sarah Evalyn ANDERSON was 15 and drove one of the 4 wagons enroute to Texas.

Sarah is my Gx2 Grandmother, and John and Kate are my Gx3 Grandparents. Unfortunately, this is about all we know about the family prior to their arrival in Texas. Hoping someone on this mailing list might have additional information on them. Particularly interested in their history in the state of Missouri - prior to coming to Texas.

Have you seen your Winnie on the 1930 census? She was living at 906 Ewing Avenue in Kansas City (District 181), Jackson County, Missouri.

Osborne, Wilmer Jr., son, 3-6/12, MO KS KS
Mayfield, Martha, mother-in-law, 64, wd 28, MO MO MO

I searched for Martha Mayfield after not being able to find a Minnie or Winnie Mayfield with a mother named Martha. Guess what! I'm almost positive I found her. The person who transcribed the 1910 census for Little Robe, Ellis County, Oklahoma mistook "Twins" for "Ferrins," in effect renaming the twins and 2 younger children! (The census taker wrote with a broad tipped pen and was not a good speller, so we'll blame him!)

I didn't see Minnie in 1920. Maybe she was also married by then.

These people are no known relation to me, but I do have both Mayfield and Osborne ancestors. If you sometime find out that the Osbornes had Lett or Whitfield relatives in the South maybe we will establish a connection later. You should join the Mayfield List on Rootsweb. The people who actually are list members are extremely helpful and very nice too.
