You are absolutely correct that the city of Monroe is in Walton County Georgia. There is also a Forsyth County up near Cumming and the city of Forsyth down in Monroe County Georgia. Robert Lee Maynard's parents lived in Monroe County Georgia near the town of Forsyth. I grew up with the children of William Nathaniel Maynard. If you should need information about that particular line of the Maynard family, let me know. I will be happy to help. Good luck with your search for info about Robert Lee Maynard. Ann

You may want to make a correction to your info. Forsyth, GA, is in Monroe Co. I am actually originally from Monroe, GA, which is in Walton Co. Thanks for your time. I wish we could help each other more, but that's the way it is sometimes! Ha! June

I can't help with that. I am a descendant of William Nathaniel Maynard and Martha Melinda Dewberry. William Nathaniel was Robert Lee Maynard's older brother. He lived in Monroe, GA, USA outside of Forsyth. If you have any information the Maynard family, I would be happy to exchange info.
Thank you for your quick response. It could very well be the one I'm looking for. I was hoping to find a descendant of his and ask if anyone had kept his legals records. I'm looking for a copy of a divorce decree or actual divorce transcript from around 1906/7, and it wasn't to be found in the courthouse.

June

In my family tree, I have a person named Robert Lee Maynard who was married to Susie Ellen Shepherd. He was born 25 Jan 1867 and died 12 July 1957. He married on 18 Dec 1890. He was born in GA and died in Sumter, Georgia. I do not know what he did for a living. According to my records, he had at least one child named Linda who died when she was around 2 years old. This Robert was the son of William Tansel Maynard and Martha Malinda Dewberry who lived in Monroe County, Georgia. Let me know if you think that this could be the person that you are looking for.

Of course Wiseman Herrin was married into the Maynard/Mainor family from Wake County, NC. It is my conclusion that Richard Herrin, Wiseman's father, was also from Wake after having lived in Stokes and Rowan Counties, NC. Also, that Richard's parents were Edward and Maryan Herrin of Wake (d. 1813 Spartanburg Dist., SC). Shadrack Herrin, my ancestor, had a son, Jefferson Herrin, who married a daughter of Moses Mainer (Nancy Elizabeth Mainer)of Dekalb Co., TN, while living in Pope CO., Illinois (his second marriage). Moses (or Malvin) lived just a few dwellings away from Richard Herrin back in Dekalb Co., TN. Hence, for this and many other reasons, I believe that Shadrack and Richard were brothers. Any further info will be appreciated.

The postings in this thread are rather intriguing. I am looking for parents of Joseph W Maynard b. abt 1791 in Lyme CT. One connection we can't make is to Family Bible clippings referring to a Selden A. Maynard, formerly of Greenport (NY), aged 68 yrs., 2 ms. Burial at Sag Harbor (1891 we believe). He was the son of Selden Maynard b 1795, married Lydia Maynard b 15 Jan 1803 in Lyme. Selden, we believe is the son of Ezra Maynard and Abigail Mack. Are Abigail and your Asenath sisters? Are Asa and Selden brothers or cousins? And where can my GGG Grandfather Joseph fit in?
Appreciate anything you might have, and would certainly be glad to share more we have.

Bob Maynard

My Grandfather would like to know what happened to Mick who he believes went into the Royal Navy. Mick would be about 87 or 88 years old now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Krystal

Wow. That's pretty cool. After a bit of quick digging, here's what I think: your Ezra Maynard and Abigail Mack turn up in several places online as Ezra Miner and Polly Mack, but the birth dates seem right, and they are listed as the parents of Selden Maynard/Miner Sr.

My Asenath Mack was Polly Mack's sister, they were BOTH the daughters of Ezra Mack and Lydia Gibbs. It's likely that Ezra
and Asa were brothers. I'll have to do some more digging...

I'm looking for a connection between the Maynard "Wine Gum" family and the Speller or Chapman families. My grandmother, Kate Elfeda Speller, remembered going to visit her aunt when she was a child and saw the maynards making sweets in their kitchen. This fits in with the Maynard story on the Cadbury's website.I assume that the relationship was with their mother, but it could have been by marriage. The visit was probably around 1880, before they had found the way to do the winegums.
Look forward to getting news!
Duncan

The mention of a Thomas Maynard as a possible son of Asa Maynard and Asenath Mack born in 1802 would make him a possible father of my Thomas. Does anyone know if there might be any connection? Also, in the 1880 census my Thomas indicated that his mother was born in C.W.. Does anyone know what C.W. refers to?

The father of the girl, who was only 15 years of age only learned of the intentions of the couple on Tuesday, when at once set about to prevent the match. The cousin of the bridegroom elect was at once arrested on a warrant sworn out by the irate parent. On Thursday morning the case was called in the justice's court and it was learned that the order for the license was signed by the proposed bride. Learning this the case was dismissed against the young man and after much persuasion the young couple were allowed to call in the county judge before whom they were duly joined together. He was 18 and she was 15.

I was wondering what your source is for George Henry Maynard's birth being both in Bude, Cornwall, England, and on May 18, 1852? According to this Web site (http://brett.driscoll.name/familyhistory/famtrmay.htm), George Henry Maynard was born on June 6, 1852 in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. Unfortunately, that Web site does not provide a citation for his birth date either.

Thank you for any clarification you can offer on this discrepancy.
