Classification: Query
Surnames: Mc Auliff, Mc Cauliff, Barry, Flynn, Briggs, Doyle, Mahoney, Kelly, Crotty, Hazlett
Searching for descendants of Thomas and Mary Barry Mc Cauliff who immigrated in 1840 to Syracuse, New York with their infant son William. A second son, John, was born there in 1843. They moved a while after that to Chicago, Illinois. (Thomas according to family anecdotal info was wheelwright but unconfirmed) Two Daughters, Catherine and Mary Ann were born in Chicago before the family relocated to Adams Township, Green County, WI before the 1850 census. Three more children, Thomas, Edward and Hannah were born in WI. Thomas listed as landowner in 1861 records of Adams township. Do not know when he died. My great grandfather was William, the eldest. He married in 1862 to Jane Lewis ( possibly anglicized from Luis/Lois or Lewison as she was from Norway and orphaned by mother's death on immigrant ship)
John married Susan Briggs and both William and John moved to Iowa, William homesteading in Plymouth County. John lived in Butler county and raised 4 children and Wm had same number.
I believe Catherine married a Kelly and she was alive in 1903 when Wm died. Mary Ann married an unknown first name Doyle while Edward and Thomas had both died by 1903. Hannah had married Thomas Mahoney and they lived for some time in Shullsberg, Lafayette County, WI. (1900 census but have not had chance to check further on this family.) They had 7 children, Mary, Laura, William, Leo, John, Ray & Perry. I have not been able to trace any of these individuals at this time but would like to connect with that line in particular.
Mary Ann Doyle lived in Butler County near brother John Mc Cauliff's son, Pearl James Mc Cauliff and both she and her mother, Mary Barry are buried in the Dumont cemetery along with daughter, Magdalena Crotty and members of that family line.
Have found many people of whom our family had no knowledge up to one year ago but right now stuck on the Mahoneys and where the younger Mc Cauliffs went from Butler County. Did find wife of Pearl James whose name was Dilly Hazlett and know that her family was from Dubquque but have not checked in that area yet. Any direction,
information or way to go would be appreciated.
