Re: James McAchran b 1750

Some researchers have set forth that James McAchran born 1750 was the father of James (b. 1769), William (b. 1770), John (b. ca. 1771) and Mary (b. 1773).

Their parents, however, were actually William Mceachran and Hannah Thomas, who were married in Wilmington DE on 1 August 1768. Hannah was the daughter of Morris Thomas and Mary Cantrell.

What is the source for the 1750 birth date for James? There was a James McCachran in Chester County, PA, and he very likely was a relative of William Mceachran. This James was born about 1735.

In the Dodge Grove Cemetery, Matoon, Il is buried a James A McAchran who died 2-6-1898. When we visited the registary office in 1983, the office lady said he died of dropsy and is buried in sec 2, lot 9.

Dodge Grove Cemetery is also now listed online. If this is who you are looking for, the office there hs many handwritten books with all kinds of burial information.

You may want to contact my grandfather, Charles F. McAchran. He has "charted" (I guess that's the correct term) the McAchran name pretty far back and knows of roots in IL, CA, NM, OK, IN & VA (as far as I know).

His e-mail is fredmca@exis.net and he's very interested in this type of thing.
