Yes it is Acton Cemetery.

If David has a stone we didn't find it. We were told the grave/graves were by the Boone graves. Most around there are to old to read. There was no one available to question about the cemetery and who was buried there.

I have a death date of 28 Oct. 1870, Johnson Co. TX but now I don't recall where that information came from.

I have the same information. David K and Nancy are my 3rd great grandparents. My information came from John Blair who shares them as grandparents.
I heard they are buried in Action Cemetery in Johnson County, Texas close to the Boone ladies.

A great deal of information on the McAdow & Dilliard families came from: John P. Blair 3509 Midwest Drive Bryan, Texas 77802 The birthdates for the family came from Bible pages provided by John. He has the Dilliard orginals in his possession. The information on the McAdow's came from Susan Griffith in Arkansas.

I have traced my lineage back to James A McAdoo, but I'm stuck there and can't find his parents. If anyone has anyone can help, it would be a huge help. Here's what I know: James A McAdoo was born in TN in 1823. He died 16 June, 1862 in Okalona, Mississippi. His children were Elbert, Sophia, Olivia, and Jefferson McAdoo. Look on Ancestry.com for a document called "Prominant Southern names". The first McAdoo in the country was John McAdoo. He came over from Ulster in the early 18th century. Secretary of Treasury William Gibbs McAdoo Jr, and Confederate General John D. McAdoo were his direct decendants.

I know I am two years late, but I belive I am a descendant of William. On another forum I saw a post by you talking about Green Acres Farm and I belive my x2 Great Grand Father was the owner.

I am unable to help you with your information, but I was hoping maybe you could share some of the history you know with me. I dont know much about our tree or people in it, My father John Paul Mcadoo Jr. died before I was 2 and I havent really kept in contact with his family for too long after that.

Also, I know some of my family lives in NH, are you related to Nancy, Linda, or Joan?

I don't have his parents names. I am not sure about siblings, but in his will he names two McAdoos who are not his decendants. Basically, he provides money to a female to "Buy a dress" and as for the other individual, he just states that he is well provided for. As I recall, the name of that person was Joseph.

My earliest concrete connection has my Calvin Poe McAdoo living with the Sloan family in the mid 1800's. Trying to find the thread that ties him to the John McAdoo line of Black Legs Creek in Inidana Twshp, PA. I know they are connceted but Calvin's father seemed to of up and disappeared and left him with the Sloans. Any info. would be great.

If I read your work right, Samuel McAdoo (1825 - 1893) married
1. Sarah Jane McAdoo and had children between 1846 and 1873 then
2. Sarah F. Thompson and had children (Samuel, Sarah and Ellen) born between 1853 and 1856. But they were not living with Samuel and Sarah J. McAdoo in the 1881 census. Could the family of Samuel McAdoo and Sarah Thompson be another family?

On another note, did you know that Caroline McAdoo and Abraham Potter were in Huron County in 1881 (with her brother Herbert McAdoo)?

Do you know about what year your grandfather was born? I have a Richard Clyde Mcadoo in my family tree. His father was Clyde Richard Mcadoo.
My Richard Clyde was born 21 Mar 1921 and died Nov 1978 and is buried is buried in Okmulgee, OK. His father, Clyde was born 28 Apr 1876 and died 01 Feb 1968, also in Okmulgee, OK. My Mcadoos' were born in Iowa.

Fanny (I have never seen her listed as Frances) was born about 1803 in Illinois. She died after 1860 likely in Madison Co., Arkansas. Lewis was the youngest of 10 children.

My McAdoo family was in Northern Ireland and in the linen/fabric business before they arrived in America. Then settled in Guilford Co., NC, attended Alamance Presbyterian Church, Greensboro, were patriots of the Revolution, and from there migrated west through the states.

I'm an active amateur researcher - meaning, I'm helping a McAdoo descendant in the midwest construct their family tree. I've used online and library sources to construct a fairly solid record. There is some conflicting information posted online by amateur researchers, and I want to avoid their mistakes.

At this point in my research, I believe our family origins are in the Scottish Lowlands, perhaps Galloway, which is in southwest Scotland. Some years ago while visiting Scotland, I found our name listed under the Galloway District tartan.

I am researching the migration of McAdoo families from Scotland to Ireland to America. I am interested in the earliest McAdoo immigrants to America, their country/county of origin, the dates they arrived, and their migration in America.

The earliest member of my branch of the family to immigrate to America was Daniel McAdoo, b. 1824, Ireland. He arrived and settled in Philadelphia about 1845. My 2X great-grandfather William, b. 1834, Ireland, immigrated about 1848-52, settling first in Philadelphia, then in Montgomery County, PA. Most of my family resided in
Eastern PA until recent years.

To my knowledge, I do not have a John McAdoo, b. 1872 who lived in MA in my tree . My branch of the McAdoo clan resided mostly in Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Chester counties, PA until recent years. Thanks for your inquiry.

I have come across this family before in my research where I saw them in Vallejo. My McAdoo's lived in SF and I had a great Uncle Walter McAdoo who had a dentist office in Virginia City. He later lived in Winnemucca and was into Quicksilver mining. Don't believe this family is directly related, but it is interesting to see a connection to Virginia City.

My McAdoo is from Derry as well. His name is John McAdoo in late 1700's married Ann Moore and came to NY. He had a son Robert b. 1834 and a daughter Sarah. Robert had 3 children: John, Walter, and Adella. John was naturalized in NY in 1855.

Hi Jim,
William arrived in NY in 1859. As I said, his naturalization papers say he was born in County Derry, Ireland in 1843. The first time I find him after his arrival is in Lynn, Mass with the birth of his daughter Elizabeth. Son John was born in 1872, either in Lynn or Cambridge, MA. Lillian, Clara and Alice followed and were all born in Cambridge. The family is in Cambridge for the 1880 federal census. The census says William's mother was born in Scotland and his father in Ireland. William's wife Mary Blennerhassett died in 1889 and William died in 1892. This record says his father's name was John and his mother listed as unknown. Unfortunately, there is no surviving 1890 census. My branch of the McAdoo family pretty much stayed in the Mass area.

My first McAdoo in the US is William who was born in County Derry in 1843. His father's name was John and his mother is unknown at this time. He came to the US in 1859, but the first time I find him in census records is in 1880. He was married to Mary Blennerhassett, date and location unknown. They had 5 children, four surviving to adulthood and three of them had children. The family was Protestant until after the paretns deaths in 1889 and 1892, then the children converted to Catholicism.

I think I may be a decendant of John (Dec. 1872). John married Annie Harney (b: Sept 1871) and they had several children. One of their daughters was Mary D. McAdoo (b: 1896), my great grandmother. Mary McAdoo married Henry Walsh (b: 1893/1896?) in 1921.

I have found census records for the McAdoo's going back to 1880. If you have other info I'd love to hear about it.

Ruth McIndoo married Hezekiah Dyson 2 Aug 1832 in Bartholomew IN. She was born 24 Oct 1811 in Jackson Cty, IN and died 25 Jul 1876 at Thomson, York Twp, Carroll Cty, IL. She is buried in York Cemetery, Thomson, York Twp, Carroll Cty, IL. Her parents were Jacob McIndoo & Margaret (Peggy) McDowell.
