The most reliable info are the abstracts of the Revolutionary war pensions. William died in 1819 just as he was ready to qualify for a small pension. More details can be gleaned from microfilm copies of the Archives that I rented from a genealogy company out of Utahnin the 1990's. The microfilm printer I used gave copies that are almost unreadable and photocopy poorly. Poor Eleanor lived to 91 and was desperate to prove her marriage to William occurred before he was discharged from the Continental Army. Much of his military history is available on Ancestry.com but has to be sifted through hundreds of online documents. I am descended from James McAllister Jr the brother of Joshua. Thomas McAllister's oldest son ,Cassius McAllister 1888-1944, is my grandfather. Mike Keppen Sioux Falls SD
