McAlpin - Scottish Connection

I have done extensive research on my McAlpin family and have successfully traced this line to Alexander McAlpin, born in about 1728 in Scotland, married to Sarah Temple in about 1758, in Scotland, then married Mary Moore Haggard in 1776, in Abbeville, South Carolina. He has children from both marriages. He left Scotland after the Battle of Culloden and this is where I am having trouble picking up the family line. He served during the American Revolution, is listed a a resident of the South Carolina 1779 Colony in the old 96th District and was a land owner in Georgia. There is also a Robert McAlpin listed in this colony but I am not sure if this was a brother or other relative. I am looking for a link to the Scottish family. If any one has any information, please contact me. I will be happy to share any information that I have in return.
