Terrence was my Grandfather. He was born in Peyson, OK and passed away in 1993. His mother was Loraine Hale, and his father separated from the family early on, possibly went by William Theo or Terrence Theo. He had a step father by the name of Harry Painter. He had six sisters, of whom I do not know there whereabouts or status. Iral, Irene, Fran, May, Iris, and one other. Terrence enlisted in the Marine Corps in the late 1930s, and was captured on Wake Island after the Japanese invaded on Dec 8, 1942. He spent 4 years in prison camps, mostly around Shanghai. After the war, he married Norma Bassett in San Francisco in 1949. They had 4 sons, Jay, Fred, Lamont, and Duane. Jay Sr., was my father, and recently passed away. Terrence worked as mail carrier for the USPS in Garden Grove, CA where he retired around 1985. He was buried with military honors on Riverside National Cemetery.
