In Shreveport library, "McCaa Family of Laurens County, South Carolina and Madison County, Alabama" by Juanita D. Cawthon (1990) there is a note which states: The Charles McCaa family was related to the James G. McCaa family of Bossier Parish, Louisiana. It is thought that James G. McCaa and Charles McCaa were brothers. Charles is the son of David and Mary Simmons McCaa of Laurens. They migrated to Madison County, Alabama. Seven of nine children listed were: Charles, b 1791, Katharine, Mary (Polly), Louisa, Sophia, Sarah (Sally) and Jane.
If you think this will help in your search, I will gladly send you a copy of this David McCaa line which includes the Charles line.
I am from James McCaa of Laurens line, and I believe he is the brother of David. My ancestor, his son John Francis McCaa b. 1796 in Laurens, migrated to Mississippi and Louisiana. There were McCaa's in Shreveport while we were living there in the 1950-60's but they pronounced the name McCaw while we were the McKay's. Dad thought we were related some way. This is all I have on that line.
