Laura, I found the information I was looking for about my great-grandfather. I had the name wrong. His correct name was William S. McCamey married to a Emma Harbison. William S. had a brother George P. married to a Emma Simms. William S and George parents were George McCamey and Mary Rodgers. I do have a picture of Mary Rodgers, which is my great-great-grandmother.
Hello, My great-grandfather William S. McCamey has a brother name George P McCamey that was married to a Emma Simms that had a son name Harold B. that was born in 1895 in PA. Harold had a brother name Lewis. William S, George P, and Emma McCamey are buried in OK. That is the only Harold that I have found listed with any of the branches that I have found. My daddy was Charles William McCamey and he was born in Lawrence, IL. My family drill oil and gas for a living. Most of my family came from Ireland, Butler Co, PA, & West Virginia. A lot of the family members went south to drill in OK and TX.

Hello: Do you have anyone on your family tree named Harold McCamey? He was my maternal grandfather, born in Canton, IL in the late 1880's, I believe. My mother, Mary Elizabeth McCamey (Thompson) and her brother William Harold McCamey are the only ones left on that tree. I would love to hear from any others with McCamey connections! Thanks!
There's an image of your grandparents' marriage certificate online at: http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=11460680&Ty.... If you have difficulty with this link, go to the West Virginia Vital Research Records site at: www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_select.aspx and you should see three choices: birth, death, marriage. Put your grandfather's last name into the "groom's last name" box on the search engine page for the marriage records and you'll have a page of results for McCAMEY come up. There are two records for him with images. One is an image of the log book, recording the marriage and the other is for the actual license. The license says George married Lydia on 28 June 1907 in Tyler County. He claimed to be born in Butler County, PA and she was born in Monroe County, OH.
I cannot quite make out the last name for Lydia. Could be GUTHULET, GUTBERTCH, GUTBERLTH...really hard to read the handwriting.

There is also an obituary online for George Warren "Pete" McCAMEY. It mentions many relatives.

There are a number of family trees out there that mention a George McCAMEY from Donegal, Ireland who was married to a RODGERS. Bet the owners of those trees are relatives of yours!

What can you tell me about your George McCAMEY? Did you know his dates? His wife's name?
Our George McCAMEY was born 25 Aug 1866 in PA and died Nov 30 1936 near as I can tell. He was married to Emily "Emma" SIMS.
It could be that your George is a cousin? George seemed to be a popular first name among the McCAMEY line.
I have found a number of George McCAMEY records out there.
I did find a George Warren McCAMEY listed in both the WWI and WWII draft. He listed himself as born Dec 1884 in Butler Co., PA and living in WV at the time of the drafts. He was apparently married to a woman named Inez. He appeared with his family on the 1920 U.S. Census with four children: William, Clayton, Mollie and Virginia. Could he be your George Warren McCAMEY?
--Laura
It was his father who brought them from Ireland he told me to Pennsyvania then then settled in West Va where they raised my grandfather. Confused?

Rebecca died in Bendigo in 1927.

William married Mary BLACK and they settled in Eaglehawk they had only one child Alex HADDEN before William died.

Alex was the only HADDEN that survived in the second generation - he married Emily GRASS in 1906 - all their descendants on record were born around Coburg / Moonee Ponds so I don't see a link.

Mary Virginia McCamey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Elmer McCamey, could possibley be my 2nd cousin once removed. The time period checks, Robert Elmer was born in about 1870 in PA and mother Anna Dunkel born in PA date unknown. If this is possible the same one a copy would be great and provide the orginal to a direct decendent. I have a picture of my mother Arline Fair and Joe McCamey prior to or the start of WWII.

Lew McCain

Hi, Pam! Thanks for getting in touch. I haven't stumbled across the name of Clara in the siblings I've identified for this George, but I bet he's at least a cousin. I'll write to you at your e-mail address and send a photo of George P McCAMEY for comparison to the photos you have.

From what I can tell this George P McCAMEY had siblings named Sarah, Mary, Margaret, Joseph, Thomas and Elsie. His parents were Thomas and Esther.

This George was born in Butler Co., PA and migrated down to Sistersville WV before heading out to Oklahoma, where I believe he passed away in the mid 1940s. Does this match your Clara's brother?

Best wishes,
Laura

Hi Barry
I am trying to trace my husband's great grand father. His name was William McCamey. My father-in-law thinks that he was one of three brothers who came from Aughacloy West Tyrone Northern Island. His brother's names were Alex and John. William McCamey married Mary Huggins in Melbourne 21/5/1886 and they had 2 children - Claude Loris McCamey & Florence Marion McCamey. Claude was my husband's grandfather. I have a letter written to Loris (Claude) dated 28/10/1930 from his cousin - William Robert McCamey (Bob) who was the son of John McCamey. He was living in Ipswich Queensland at the time of writing the letter. He also confirmed in the letter that Uncle Alex married but they had no children and that his wife died in 1929. If you have any info on William's family and parents it would be appreciated.

I have hand written notes from my grandmother Elsie Etta Fair McCamey indicating all three families came to America together, landing in Philadelphia around 1836. Two brothers, John and James moved to the Armstrong Co., PA, area, at least for John according to the 1840 Census. Notes state that William stayed in Philadelphia and was never heard from again. If this sounds like some of your McCamey's please get in touch.

Dick, did Pam ever reply to you? She was my mother who passed away early 2002. We can only trace our McCamey line from Australia back to Aughnacloy in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. We have been told that possibly two brothers went to the USA and the rest we know migrated to Australia in the 1850s and 1860's. Does your wife know the name of her ancestor who migrated from Ireland? I know one of the brother's names was David - can't recall the other one at this stage. Please feel free to email me and I'll check my files for further information.
